((HUGS))Good morning, Beach.
How's it going?
HAPPY 2222sDAY, Edward!
I was born in 1954 at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station Infirmary, just a little ways up the road from Newport. My father was assigned to the old carrier, the USS TICONDEROGA, at the time. When the TICONDEROGA shifted base to Norfolk, my mother and I transited aboard the carrier from Newport to Norfolk, and I may have the distinction of being the only baby to ever have its diaper changed on the flight deck of a US Navy carrier.
When I went to Newport to the Naval Justice School for training as a court reporter back in 1978, I drove over to where the Quonset Point NAS used to be ... it was all gone except the old water tower. I still have the picture that I took of it, an old-style water tower with the words "QUONSET POINT NAS" printed on the side of it.
Anyway, just thought I'd say "Hi" since you were talking about the area at which I was born.
Take care ...
