I am from Missouri. I did not vote for Akin because I noticed Sarah Palin did not endorse him. She was right again.

And people should realize that Sarah is politically smarter than your average bear.

I would have gladly supported his opponent if she won the primary and made the same gaffe. This issue isn't about Akin as a man, it's about the issue...cowardly Republicans throwing Christian conservatives under the bus through any opening they can find because they either like the status quo on legal abortion or they believe "pro-life" is a losing issue and won't fight for it. Screw the RINOs. I support Akin for believing the right thing, I don't dump him because he used one wrong word and quickly apologized.

This isn't rocket science pal.

Dude in Arkansas made a similar comment in 1998. He lost 58-42 in what was supposed to be a close race.

And I don't know for a fact how bad it is but there is no time to poll it to see, the deadline after which he cannot be replaced is TOMORROW. Based from everyone reactions at BEST it would be a 50/50 at worst he'd have no chance at all.

McCrapskull is unpopular. A Republican that doesn't shoot himself in the foot beats her, period. The Senate majority is not something to trifle with.

"And better yet what makes you think that the Missouri voters who supported him would then vote for a replacement candidate"

That is not "better yet". That is a much worse point than your first one which was actually valid. Why do I think conservative primary voters would vote GOP in the general election? I don't know DUH. They aren't the problem, it's the fools in the middle that decide elections we need to worry about.

Maybe some consideration should be given to his remark that falsely claiming rape for the purpose of justifying abortion is not legitimate.

Yes, that cuts to the nub of the matter right there. He is running for the Senate. I would hope he would have worked out how he would respond to these matters in advance (maybe have some sort of voting record to point at?), and it's apparent from his babbling about it ever since he had not done so. Something better than what Whoopi Goldberg would come up with.

And when Ryan is pressed for his opinion on abortion in the case of rape, what would you like him to say?

I'm sure Paul Ryan can handle himself, so let's see how he responds. Thanks to the goof Akin, he is sure to be asked now, and not in a straightforward kind of question. "You're on record, Congressman, as being against abortion even in the case of rape. Don't you agree with your Missouri colleague that a woman can't get pregnant from being raped because her reproductive system seizes up like a 72 small-block eight Chevy with a blown oil pump?"

This is how a "local" deal like this can screw up the rest of the country.

The ENTIRE uproar by “republicans” is because they are concerned they won’t win McRaskil’s seat in the Senate. Sounds like “power” is what matters to you so called “republicans.”

It's about power for a purpose, not power for power's sake.

Republicans want to repeal Obamacare, and need a solid majority in the Senate to do so. That is the purpose.

Do you support that purpose?

Whether he leaves or not should be up to him and his supporters. The fact that the GOP is saying there will be no RNC money for his campaign and we have folks like Scott Brown, Sen Johnson, and Cong West condemning him and asking him to withdraw is not the way a party should treat one of its colleagues. He has committed no crime or indiscretion. Why the piling on? Is he allowed one verbal gaffe or do only Dems have that freedom?

Taking out McCaskill will be more difficult given the way the GOP treats one of its own. Akin's supporters who carried him to victory in the primaries may not be happy with being disenfrancised. The GOP could have handled this much better instead of joining the herd to demonize this guy. It is disgusting really.

Sorry, I’ve got to quote Perry Mason: Irrelevant, incompetent and immaterial.

Wrong on all counts. You want to throw Akin under the bus because the Democrats have an angle to attack him on that a replacement candidate wouldn't offer, but you don't want to throw Romney under the bus because the Democrats have an angle to attack him on that a replacement candidate wouldn't offer. I don't know why your views are inconsistent, incompatible, and incompetent, but it could be because you're a sheep following the edicts of the GOP elite talking heads you watch on the boob tube. People who do that instead of think for themselves are exactly why Romney was nominated and why the party is going RINO faster than a runaway freight train.

RINOs like Dick Lugar? The Tea-Party is our method of policing our own, and they are doing a good job. This Akin idiot is just someone who slipped through the net. Note to Tea Party: When vetting people on their conservative values, please make sure they know enough to defend their conservative values!

We have a right to say he must go, because the outcome affects us all. There’s no point nominating “the perfect conservative” if he’s going to lose on social issues. That’s why we didn’t elect Rick Santorum to run for president. It’s nice, and we all nod our heads as they tell us what we want to hear, but when all is said and done, every conservative from Florida to Alaska has to wake up in the morning to see Harry Reid spewing more BS from his position as Senate leader. Every conservative has to wake up to Obamacare still being law. We have a great opportunity to oust the senate liberals and this guy, Akin, is trashing it. What if Romney fails to overcome Obama’s voter fraud and media wing? Then we NEED to take the senate from him before any more damage is done by Obongo!

Akin is pretty much Dead Man Walking - politically.

Says who???

If winning this seat means that “elitists” could pick the replacement candidate, then so be it.

Oh really??? and just how would you react in the voting booth if the electoral process was cast aside and you were force fed an elitist choice??? Missouri voters might just stay home and give you all Obama and McCaskill.

Akin was legally elected by the voters and nothing he did was illegal or immoral. As a matter of fact on radio program today 80% of the callers were vehement supporters of his gaffe and all.

McCaskill’s polling numbers are so bad it’s more than likely that anyone who replaces Akin will beat her in N ovember.

So then why are all the cats wailing out there that the GOP is going to lose the seat??? The GOP is just angry that he who is a dependable conservative and not someone more moderate and beholden to the elitists is going to win the seat.

He may be a good man and have a certain degree of educational intellect. He’s just dumb as a friggin’ coal bucket when it comes to common sense.

It affects all of us because the Democrats have a perfect soundbite to be repeated over and over, causing our GOP candidates to be tarred with Akin’s idiotic comments. YES, that does affect us.

You mean like "I like being able to fire people" and "I'm not concerned about the very poor?" Let's be consistent here. If we're booting out all candidates who gave the Democrats perfect soundbites to use against them, are you also calling for Romney's ouster from the ticket?

Thanks to the goof Akin, he is sure to be asked now

Yeah, if not for this, Republican presidential candidates NEVER would've been asked their position on abortion in an unfriendly manner by the MSM. LOLZ

But Romney didn’t make a huge mistake by making a statement that invites calls from Republican of various stripes from Senator Brown to Rep. Allen West to withdraw from his race.

You are a sickening coward and/or the worst kind of useful idiot to those who would destroy the foundations of this country. Get out of my party.

The seat is what is important. At any other time, I might agree with you that “yeah, the libs stand by their own, We should too!”, but there has NEVER been a more important time. Obama is destroying this country and Clair McRatSkull is helping him. Now, maybe Akin can still win on the hyper-partisanship alone (as the latest polls indicate he isn’t falling behind), but is it worth the risk at this stage in the game? Sometimes, people have to take one for the team. I wish Akin hadn’t said this, but if he stays in, McCatSkull rises from the dead and may win. Is that a risk we can take knowing what is at stake?

Not the same. Both of the comments you gave were taken out of context. Romney was talking about firing insurance companies, and he was talking about focusing on the middle class because the poor have a safety net. There is NO WAY Akin’s comments could be taken out of context. He screwed up.

If your argument is simply based on being a sheep who follows what other people in the party say, then I can't help you. I'm concerned about other issues like what's right and wrong. But if you think Republicans are always right about everything they say and do, I just wonder how you explain why they lost the 2006 and 2008 elections.
