McCaskill wants Akin to stay in the race (Missouri update)
The Hill ^ | August 21, 2012 | Daniel Strauss

Posted on 08/21/2012 4:15:07 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) would prefer for Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) to remain her reelection opponent.

"Elections are sacred, there was an election, so I think the voters of Missouri should be respected [and] not have some big wig fancy people from Washington come in here and threaten him that he's got to drop out," McCaskill said, according to St. Louis television station KTVS.

Akin was the Republican primary contender that McCaskill and the Democrats were hoping for, prior to his controversial statements on rape that have prompted GOP calls for him to quit. That his remarks might have injured his candidacy makes him all the more attractive to the Democrats. McCaskill, however, did not emphasize the political calculations in her remarks to the TV station.

She said it would be a "radical" event for Akin to drop out and the state GOP to pick another candidate.

Look at LBJ when he was Senate Majority Leader. Now that was discipline.

Yeah marvelous—even though no matter what he’ll still be used to tar every Republican candidate in the country. It also assumes that he won’t commit more idiotic gaffes which he is bound to do.

Then why don’t all those who fear that they will be tarred to grow some cojones and stand up to the media and the Democrats instead of expecting someone else to do it for them. If they can’t and won’t do it then they don’t deserve to be in office.

It’d be great if my investment portfolio all of the sudden quadrupled overnight and still that’s more likely to happen than Akin getting elected.

Why don't Republicans have the discipline that Democrats have? McCaskill will certainly win that previously winnable seat. Hope we can still repeal Obamacare.

Just damn! And here we were, right on the cusp of victory now that Snow, Collins, Brown (Mass), McCain, Graham and the rest of the "Stonewall Senate git-a-longs" were just breathing fire and smoke, champing at the bit to overturn Obamacare.

THANKS SO MUCH, Todd Akin, narcissist.

The MSM will cover nothing but Akin from now to the election. Obama and Reid just got a free pass to continue running the US despite having run it into the ground the past 3.5 years.

Of course, she does, although I have to hand it to her — she was the only one I heard saying that the race is definitely not a sure thing for her now. (Then again, that’s what she thinks we want to hear her say, but she still said it.)

It’s a platform for the alleged PP rape cover-ups.

Wouldn’t it be great if Obama resigned tommorrow after issuing an executive order repealing all previous orders back to 2008, having AG Holder indict every member of his staff, and reading a written apology on live TV?

"Playing him you like a fiddle. The very definition of a useful idiot."

There, fixed it. You (and a lot of others) are being played like a fiddle, by NOW and the left-wing media. Let's fight this thing, and do what we can to ensure that McCaskill loses. Don't wimp out now.

Your portfolio is probably too long on Faceplant to quadruple at any time.

BTW here’s an article from one of your fellow posters earlier today.

It’s more Faceplant for your portfolio.

No, he isn’t. The PPP poll over-sampled Republicans +9.

I am simply seething at this disgusting little toad. He is a real piece of shit. I just can’t take it and rarely cuss, but this man just deserves it.

If something “happens” to him, I won’t feel sad in the slightest.

By ONE point after leading by 11! With even a little bit more coverage, that will easily drop to being behind (and the poll was oversampled GOP by the way).

Shocking! /s

She's up 10 points now and knows it. She went form a sure loser to walking away with it.

On Hannity, giving us a glimmer of hope, Akin suggested he'll look at the polls next month and could possible decide to drop out by the late September deadline. If he does, his campaign is responsible for the reprinting of state ballots and, obviously his replacement would have just a month to build a campaign, raise money and all that.

“He’s still leading in the polls. Days after his big mouth mistake.”
*****************************************************************
You would be less susceptible to being successfully and deliberately misled by “polls” such as this PPP poll if you would learn to track down and research their “internals”. This poll was designed SOLELY to mislead people (and the idiot AKINS) into believing that Akin still leads McCaskill—and it is successfully achieving that goal. It’s not even close—McCaskill has a substantial lead—and Akin’s support continues to rapidly erode further. And this is all before the McCaskill campaign starts spending their war chest against the feckless Akin. I think he’s constitutionally incapable of recognizing that truth. It’s a dirty shame.
