Atheists' road signs attack faiths of Romney, Obama ahead of Democratic convention [w/VIDEO]

Just as the city of Charlotte, N.C., gears up to host the Democratic National Convention, an atheist group is mounting a billboard campaign attacking the religious faiths of President Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney.

The signs, paid for by American Atheists Incorporated (AAI) and appearing along keylocal highways, include messages such as: "Christianity: Sadistic God, Useless Savior" and "Mormonism: Magic Underwear, Baptizes Dead People, Big Money, Big Bigotry." AAI President David Silverman told FoxNews.com the signs are aimed at keeping religion and politics separate as the convention gets under way Sept. 3.

Other faiths, including Judaism and Islam, were spared because the billboards are designed to attack GOP nominee Mitt Romney, a Mormon, and President Obama, a Christian, according to AAI. They will remain up for a month, and cost Silverman's group $15,000.

"We chose Christianity and Mormonism for these billboards because those are the religious faiths of the two presumed candidates for president," said Amanda Knief, managing director for American Atheists "The president of the United States is in a position to make life-changing decisions for all Americans. We believe it is perfectly reasonable to ask whether each candidate will choose to follow his religious faith or the U.S. Constitution when making those decisions."

They were denied by the billboard company in Tampa. The AAI called them bigots to refuse their sign. An interesting video.

Ha! That’s going to help more than hurt us. Kicking people in their religion is never a way to get on their good side.

Furthermore, the slogan, “Simply Reasonable” is such a snark any believer who sees it is just going to grind their teeth in outrage — and be MORE inclined to support R/R.

Nice to see our idiot enemies doing us favors like this.

Atheists don't believe in eternal life and for THEM this is true.

It is sick and bizarre how some people simply thrive on being thought stupid by overwhelming majorities.

They just happen to have the same acronym as the Arab American Institute.

...which is linked to "Bishop" Thomas Gumbleton of Detroit and the Democrat Party via Ed Gabriel and Roger Tamraz, Alamoudi, etc.

Wonder if there is more in common than just the coincidental acronym.

Not all atheists are douche bags, but these dumb #s aren’t setting a good example.

Do these assholes have any knowledge of the New Testament? Or do they just blow their cash on idiotic billboards that contradict the teachings of Christ?

Other faiths, including Judaism and Islam, were spared because the billboards are designed to attack GOP nominee Mitt Romney, a Mormon, and President Obama, a Christian, Jews would publicly call us into account for such bilge, and Muslims would behead us, according to AAI.

There's some weirdness going on down here in FL, that's for sure.

A customer who owns a little stand at a market near Tampa is a lady who was born in Germany, after WW2. She's married to a US army vet. Some young fellow came to her booth and bought some trifling item, then after buying he asked her about her accent which is esy to idntify as German. As she bagged the item she just told him she was born in Germany, at which point a turned his head and pointed to the back and said "Look here." For the first time she noticed his yarmulke and was wondering where the conversation was going to go next. He then crinkled his nose and hissed at her "If I'd known that I would never have bought this from you!" OK, that's where he was going with it. She said his eyes were looking really vicious. All she could think of stuttering was "I wasn't even born yet! My parents weren't even born then!" She said she could understand if he'd been of age himself, but at his age, neither he nor his parents had been through the Holocaust.

She couldn't think of anything to say at the time and figured that was for the best. He hissed as he stalked away "I'll never forgive or forget."

She thought it was very weird as she has Jewish customers, customers of all kinds and never had an experience like that before. I told her it was best she hadn't lost her cool on him because he could have lost a grandparent but told her I doubted that. I really think there are a lot of agitators arriving in Tampa intent on stirring up violence or something and given his age and social skills and some other odd folks we've seen emerge lately he was probably one of them and he was likely "practicing" his agitation talent on her. He's about the right age to be an "occupy" anarchist.

The opposite of the religious fanatic is not the fanatical atheist but the gentle cynic who cares not whether there is a god or not.

Gee—I didn’t see any signs regarding islam. I guess the atheists were too scared to reference that pig cult.

So hate speech by atheists is okay?
Well at least okay as long as it is directed against Christians and not muslims............

Take that same sign change Christianity to Homosexuality
Then chage it to Sadistic personal behavior
3 million infected with AIDS
Promotes Hate and calls their sex love.
You would be arrested for hate speech before the ink was dry.

There, fixed it.

He's about the right age to be an "occupy" anarchist.

And might not even be actually Jewish.

I could put on a black suit and a yarmulke, and be mistaken for Jewish. No biggie; my behaviour would be no discredit to anyone.

OTOH, an mohammedan arab (for example) activist might dress up as a Jew, and then go about doing stupid and antisocial things in public. He might do this to make Jews look bad.

Alinsky would approve.

Reading your story, I think that's exactly what happened, that the jackass knew perfectly well that the lady is German, and that he bought the trinket in order to technically qualify as a 'customer'.

Democrats Unveil the Weapon of the Future............."What all this amounts to is the baptism of fire of what I have taken to calling the "liberal superstructure." This superstructure is the vast constellation of advocacy groups, think tanks, single-issue outfits, unions, and various other flotsam constructed by the left over the past half-century or so. There are literally thousands of these groups, ranging from the ACLU and the Sierra Club with their hundreds of thousands of members to the local "Friends of the People's Venezuela" outfit which amounts to a retired feminism professor and her six cats. These organizations are ubiquitous, universal, and networked to a fare-thee- well. They are also liberalism's last great hope of controlling politics in the United States.

It's scarcely arguable that, in the political sense, liberalism is on the ropes. Obama spent their last nickel. They have lost the House and will lose the Senate, with little chance of regaining them in the near future. The same is true of the White House once the messiah gets the bum's rush come 2012. Liberalism is on the skids, its programs uniform failures, its ideology barren, its slogans worn out, its long hold on the independents being relentlessly pared down by the Tea Parties.

So what is a political movement to do, particularly one as fanatic and apocalyptic as this one? Well, if you have an alternate system made up of outside organizations not subject to governmental oversight, a system populated with self-selected fanatics and true believers, a system poised and ready to march, you can do what was done in Wisconsin. You can turn the superstructure loose to threaten the public peace, smash things up, abuse the electoral process, create a media spectacle, and pressure the state to do things your way. You can use nonpolitical organizations (in the electoral sense) to get a political result.

All the groups involved in the Wisconsin campaign were superstructure groups. The unions, the very core organizations of the superstructure, without which it's no more than a pack of vegetarians and aging hippies. The media, which serves as its propaganda arm. And the judiciary, which is broadly infiltrated by leftist partisans whose allegiance has been awarded to something other than the law."...........
