I certainly don’t want the Dem to win there, but I can’t see someone who obviously failed an IQ test winning. Maybe it will happen, but I’m not optimistic.

Yes. I know his background. Maybe his experiences up east help form his rigid anti-compromise (with liberals)opinions?

If Akin is in by Sept. 25, conservatives and true Republicans have no choice but to vote for him on Nov. 6. To do otherwise is to ensure more gun bans. Higher taxes. And of course, Kenya-care. No way around it.

I really am tired of this story, while I initially thought he should get out I really don't think what he said was all that bad when compared to what the POTUS says on a regular basis!!

We’re several weeks from the second and final deadline for withdrawing (September 25th).

Akin went from plus 11 (SurveyUSA) before the gaffe to minus 10 (Rasmussen) after. Do not believe the PPP poll indicating he is still competitive. That’s a Democratic polling organization, and they want us to think Akin is still competitive.

Non-social conservatives have an alternative, namely, the Libertarian Party candidate.

Raz’s polling only asked “or somebody else,” without giving an explicit choice of the Libertarian option. Those who shifted away from Akin shifted to “somebody else” or to “undecided.” They didn’t shift from being libertarian-conservatives to being socialist-progressives.

Possibly, with the Libertarian option for Senator, we’ll still win the state for Romney, instead of seeing the entire Republican ticket go down. The idea is that libertarian-conservatives will vote Libertarian in the Senate race and pull down the Republican lever in the Presidential race.

This thing is potentially toxic for Romney. He cannot disrespect social conservatives, but Akin jeopardizes the Republican ticket in Missouri and maybe elsewhere in the country. In Colorado, two years ago, we lost both the Senate seat and the Governor seat when some wacko won the nomination of the party for Governor. Eventually, the party coalesced around Tom Tancredo, running as a third party candidate for Governor; however, that didn’t save either the Governor or the Senate race.

Don’t get me wrong. Congressman Akin is not a wacko. He said a stupid and offensive thing, for which he has apologized. The idea that a woman who got pregnant by reason of a rape really must not have been raped, otherwise her body would have shut down, re-victimizes the woman.

If he can communicate a sincere apology to people other than social conservatives, he might be able to salvage his chance of winning, or at least limit the damage to his own defeat.

We can live without gaining this Senate seat, even if that means falling short of a majority in the Senate. What we cannot survive is another four years of Obama.

brain dead (LITERALLY!) Dem’s have won in the past. This guy can to. He’s just made the job of wining much harder.

One thing he has going for him is time, yes it’s close to the election but not that close. This story will die, and Akin will be able to get back to the issues.

I’m not really sure how to respond to you.

I will say this though, there comes a time when a person must make a stand. Mr. Akin has chosen this time to make his. I respect him for that. And I support him for that, we need men and women of conviction in the Senate and the House of representatives. I may not agree with him on everything, but he appears to know how to fight and in a republican politician that is a very refreshing thing to see.

Glad he is staying. Time to fight back.

Meanwhile, Akin will lose the Senate race by 15+, and now, per today's Rasmussen poll Missouri is in jeopardy for the general election.

Agreed. But it helps to have candidates who can win. Akin won't... not by a long shot.

If Akin were to exit the race, the September 25 absolute deadline is too late for any replacement to enter and mount a successful run. It would be a political suicide mission at that point -- 30 or so days to raise millions and build state-wide name ID? Not possible, even in a perfect world.

If Akin doesn't leave the race by 5 p.m. on September 25th then his name cannot be removed from the ballot, period. There is only one exception to that deadline. And if he leaves after the 25th, and still wins the election, then the seat is declared vacant and the governor appoints a replacement.

Really? Really? Come back here on November 7 after Akin’s historic landslide defeat and lecture us. Tell us then how refreshing and admirable Akin is.

Your actions and words at this time are very foolish.

Sure no problem with that and you do the same if he wins, ok?

Also a little thought to tide you over, a week in the political world can be a lifetime. Things can change rapidly as we have seen over the last fifty or so years. What’s in the news today is completely overwhelmed by something else next week.

Perhaps if all you pussies would stop dancing the dance of the Leftist Democrat play book to divide us all, and start supporting the guy and turn the focus onto his excellent record as a conservative instead of fighting to eliminate him, he would be 15 up.

Spineless Republicans eat their own instead of ignoring the drama and focusing on the economy. Stop being Alanskyed and stop believing the MSM.

Did you see the latest poll from Rasmussen? Thanks to Akin, Obama has now taken the lead in Missouri - Romney has consistently held a solid lead in that state until now.

Probably not, but the press doesn’t care how down a Dem is. They will never drop how dumb a Pubbie is.

Compare Biden and Qualye. Binden is far and away the dumber of the pare, but he never heard the end of Dumb Qualye stories, but we get nothing comparable about Biden.
