CNN’s Anderson Cooper takes on Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Politico ^ | August 24, 2012 | Katie Glueck

Debbie Wasserman Schultz and CNN’s Anderson Cooper engaged in a heated exchange Thursday night when Cooper charged that the Florida congresswoman “misquoted” the Los Angeles Times in a letter that the anchor also said misrepresented Mitt Romney’s stance on the Republican Party’s abortion platform plank.

The segment, which has gone viral in the conservative blogosphere, features Cooper, on his CNN show “Anderson Cooper 360,” pointing to a fundraising email Wasserman Schultz signed. He said that a quote she used from the Los Angeles Times in the appeal was taken “completely out of context.”

“The DNC chairwoman calls out Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for saying they don’t entirely agree with that plank,” Cooper said. “And here’s how she backs it up…’But guess what? ‘The Los Angeles Times’ reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, ‘written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.’

But Cooper said the quote “was ripped, in fact, out of a sentence,” saying that the real piece read, “Delegates for presumptive nominee Mitt Romney are voting down substantive changes to the platform language that were written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.”

“Do you at least acknowledge that the quote that you gave from “The L.A. Times” is completely incorrect?” Cooper asked, after a back-and-forth over Romney’s record on allowing for abortions in certain instances, like rape.

“No, I don’t acknowledge that. I know that is what you’re saying,” Wasserman Schultz shot back. When he started to read the quote, she interrupted, “Anderson, what I’m saying is, it doesn’t matter.”

“I think what you say does matter,” he said. “You’re quoting the LA Times and, again, you’ve misquoted them to back up a position.”

Wasserman Schultz said that the point of the fundraising email was to highlight Romney’s connection to his party’s platform ban on abortion, which doesn’t specifically designate exceptions for victims of rape or incest.

“There’s no way a presidential candidate can separate himself from that party’s platform,” she said.

Cooper challenged her assertion there, too, but the most fiery moments of the segment centered on the question of the quote from the Los Angeles Times.

“Just as you don’t like being misquoted, I don’t like being misquoted, I’m sure the LA Times doesn’t like being misquoted to back up your political position,” Cooper said. “I don’t understand why you’d need to do that.”

If dem PR firms ( like the one Carville runs ) quit sending these hacks ‘news’ they would have nothing to report. Most of these people gave up on being real journalists years ago - now the ‘writers’ are stenographers for democrats. In the short run it makes the job easier. Everyone’s a rewrite man. In the long run journalism dies - and all these folks are out of jobs.

In the old days there were owners and publishers who knew what was going on and what the incentives were... now the ‘rewrite’ person has an easy job and gets promoted. The real journalists who's playing it ethical gets canned. Short run - benefits. Long run - disaster. It's the addiction paradigm. Gambling - short run fun - long term disaster. Drug addiction - short run - feel good - long term - ruined life.... When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?

Bye-bye CNN, New York Times and LA Times - it's too little too late... time's almost up...

CNN doesn’t care about republicans. MSNBC is “in the tank” for Obama more than any other cable outlet by far. But what you might be seeing is an increasing realization that Obama is toast come November. It seems likely that the major anchors like (and I hate to include this Bozo) Anderson Cooper are “moving to the middle” ever so slightly so that they can appear sufficiently even-handed that they will have access to the next administration. None of these guys want to be embargoed.

I have never considered Anderson Poofter as a real anything. But at some point the lie becomes so egregious that it cannot be left unchallenged.

I was afraid to click on this thread for that very reason.
The first sentence of the article didn't reassure me.

I never thought I would say this, but this hack is more disgusting than Pelosi. She rabidly defends her lies and has the audacity to sit there and smile. She is evil.

Left-wingers don't believe in "truth" as a concept.

Or, more accurately, they believe that "truth" is a cultural construct imposed by the dominant to subdue the weak.

They are literally at war with the truth. They think that by screaming lies in people's faces, they can make lies into the truth. They think that this is what advertising has proven. The think that the success of advertising in the mass media proves that you can sell anything to the people if you just lie emphatically enough.

This is why the last two Democrat Presidents have been utterly dishonest liars who could look right into a television camera and lie their asses off with total sincerity.

This is why Democrat party spokespersons, from George Mitchell to Tom Daschle to Howard Dean to Harry Reid to Nancy Pelosi to Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz have all been absolutely shameless liars, although in the case of two (Dean and Pelosi) they may additionally be borderline mental cases. They've had the wholehearted support of the State-Owned Media at least until recently.

Unfortunately for Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz (also known as the walking punchline), the State-Owned Media is in serious financial trouble. So she gets to be the one stuck with no chair when the music stops.

She counts on Democrats not checking her facts before believing her. He is relying on the Big Lie.

Re-phrased: to the Left, there is no Truth. There are only arguments that forward their agenda, versus arguments that do not forward their agenda. To a Leftist, the former are True by definition, and the latter are Lies, without regard for what objective evidence may be gathered.

Haha, Debbie Downer must be hearing the Mayonnaise Cat calls from Free Republic. From the video it appears she tried to clean up that mop on her head (with limited success)

The Bill Clinton Doctrine:

“A statement is not a lie if you can convince yourself you believe it to be the truth at the time you say it.”

Very similar to the George Costanza hypothesis:

It's not a lie... if you believe it!

I guess that makes the Obama administration, "a presidency about nothing"?

For those who do not read the tabloids.

While Anderson was vacationing in Croatia, his long time live in boyfriend was photographed swapping spit with a much younger better looking hunk than Anderson in Central Park.

The ever lovely Kelly Ripa who seems to have a thing for gay men was evidently in Croatia to give comfort to poor little rich boy Andy.

Anyway Anderson did not change his political colors, he was just venting at the first possible creature that crossed his path after being so publicly humiliated by his lover.

Anderson is no more likely to change political teams than he is to change any of his other chosen teams.

If Cooper wasn't gay before, an encounter with Debbie sure would have finished the job.

” Beef tallow?”

Funny you mentioned this. Beef tallow was what made McDonald’s french fries tasty, years ago. Left wing freaks pressured them to eliminate it. Now they suck : )
