Frederic Chopin wrote another set of mazurkas in 1835. The first is a bit introverted.

Chopin: Mazurka in G minor, Op. 24/1

The second is the perfect foil to its predecessor, a light and fluffy piece, but the chorus is in the archaic key of C Lydian, rather than C Major.

Chopin: Mazurka in C, Op.24/2

This is the kind of mazurka that a princess would dance to.

Chopin: Mazurka in A-flat, Op. 24/3

Fred does a wonderful job in this piece alternating between darkness and light.

Chopin: Mazurka in B-flat minor, Op. 24/4

The best Chopin pianist who ever lived, except for Chopin himself. But Fred didn’t have today’s steel framed pianos to play on.

((Hugs)) to the Music Mayhem Mama!

Remind me to change the number of days left as the countdown continues.....unless you think democrats are lurking on this thread, then don't and we'll leave it alone. They'll believe anything.

Frederic Chopin had written polonaises since age 7, and he had put all of them in the desk drawer, where they would remain until after his death. His judgment was quite good, as the early polonaises gave a hint of what would come, but what was not yet there. Now in 1835, at age 25, Fred produced a pair of mature polonaises that was good enough to publish. They have become standards of the repertory.

Chopin: Polonaise in C# minor, Op. 26/1

Chopin: Polonaise in E-flat minor, Op. 26/2
