Missouri conservatives rally to Akin, blast Republican “establishment”

(Reuters) – Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that “establishment” Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.

A backlash has set in here in Akin’s suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

I am not from Missouri, but I would dearly love to see Akin win. Why? Because I, in a vindictive moment, also would love to see all the pundits (Rush, Rove, Hannity, Coulter, et.al.)plus the Republican elites, Democratic trolls embarrassed to the nth degree.

Amen brother, me too. I absolutely despise the RNC, they would be so happy to saddle us with another McCain, David Dewhurst, etc. And for the first time I'm really disappointed with Rush and Mark Levin. I have stuck up for Rush when he has made an ass of himself, and I usually stick up for Mark when he rants and raves like a maniac. I think the next couple months will show they both blew it this time.

>”He dropped in the polls because his own party and the conservative talk shows turned on him”<

Revisionist History is a wonderful thing to behold. Most of the people who changed their mind about “Mr. Rape” don’t listen to the GOP Party hacks or Talk Radio.

In one Interview he lost Democrats, Independents, Moderate Republicans and anyone who doesn’t think their Uterus has magical powers. It will be interesting to see how he will win those people back.

The contest was all about Claire being incompetent. Now it’s about the Republican with the Frontal Lobotomy.

Could someone please explain why he dropped 20 points after his rape comments

1) State Run media,
2) GOP-e "leadership" deciding for the state of MO who should run for Senate seat.

Want more?

He dropped in the polls because his own party and the conservative talk shows turned on him, because they are scared of their own shadow

You got it. The gaff Akin was so little and really amounted to nothing worth all the crap the established bunch of conservative talk show nuts jumped on. Akin is a very creditable conservative and to skewer him is not only foolish but these conservatives, including Rush, was damn wrong. Lose him in the Senate and it is a real loss.

"Akin faces more of an uphill race now," said Jay Dow, a political scientist at the University of Missouri in Columbia. "The question is whether moderate Republicans will turn out."

Who is he kidding??? That was his tenure speaking. Does he think they will vote for McCaskill and Obamacare???

Let’s face it the Republicans did it. If he was a democrat who had been caught saying something stupid, we would just be told he was taken out of context and then we would move on.

You know its really a sad state of affairs when you can say that the ‘rats are more loyal to their candidates than the gop is.

In which poll did Akin “drop 20 points”?

It certainly wasn’t Rasmussen, where he dropped 9 points (with McCasket up 4).

He had 38% to McCaskill’s 48% in the recent Rasmussen poll. But if you take the 9% that want someone else, he could easily be only one point behind after this controversy.
5% are undecided.

If the Republican elite would quit pushing him under the bus and trying to get him to stay under the bus, he will win.

If the GOP actually make him drop out at this late stage in the game, they may as well hang it up. There will be too much resentment and McCaskill will win.

He said something he shouldn't have. Big deal. Anyone with common sense knows what he meant. He is against abortion in the case of rape.

.... who thinks raped woman have magic powers to avoid pregnancy.

Well...It's not a magical power. It is part of the design of the human body. You can force food (like boiled cabbage) down my throat, but since I can't stand the taste, my stomach won't produce much digestive acid, so most of the food just passes through.

Pregnancies from LEGITIMATE RAPES are actually very rare.

LOOK IT UP. It's about 5%. AND part of that 5% is due to women who LIED about being raped and got away with it.

...and that is the real UNSPOKEN offense that is behind the AKIN HANGING MOB.

By his use of the words LEGITIMATE RAPE he implied that WOMEN LIE about being RAPED. AND THAT is why he is being 'gang-raped' by the Public and MSM. Women don't like being called liars, especially when they can avoid responsibility for their 'act' by claiming rape. AND THEY WANT THAT OPTION kept open.

Now, before I get flamed, may I say that men are just as likely to be liars (when it suits a purpose), who have the convenience of not being the ones who becomes pregnant.

Great points. I think if Akin wins, Rush and Levin will just shake it off and say, "Good for Missourians." But if he loses by a point or two, Rush, Mark, the RNC, and all the other bobble-heads who came down on him will realize that casting their lot with DBM killed him and gave the seat to another D.

Democrats contributed to Akin in the primary race, thinking he would be the easiest to beat (because of his 100% solid conservative record). I hope their strategy backfires big time.
