Romney in Crisis: Two Dark Spots in Fortunate Life
NYT ^ | 8/25/2012 | Sheryl Stolberg

Posted on 08/25/2012 9:37:43 AM PDT by GlockThe Vote

It was the fall of 1998, the height of Mr. Romney’s high-flying career as a private equity executive. But his wife, Ann, was not well. She was exhausted, and having difficulty walking; her right foot was dragging. When a neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital arrived at a diagnosis — multiple sclerosis — “they just held each other in their arms,” their son Josh said, “and just cried.”

Thirty years earlier, in the spring of 1968, Mr. Romney, then a Mormon missionary in France, had a scare of a different sort. He was at the wheel of a tiny Citroën, cruising along a country road, when a Mercedes rounded a curve and crashed into his car, head on. One of his passengers — the wife of the French mission president — was killed. Mr. Romney, by all accounts not at fault, was knocked unconscious and mistakenly pronounced dead at the scene.

There are patients who cannot see a doctor
in Massachusetts quickly (less than 6 months)
who have MS now, all thanks to Mr. RomneyCARE
and his death panels. This is one example.

“There’s a certain expediency about how he deals with crisis,” Mr. Scott said. “He deals with it, he ties up the loose ends and he moves forward.”

This is why we need to get him elected.

"This is one example."

That's not an example, it's a title. An example has details such as names, dates, locations, and background. Absent that, I simply don't believe it.

But the broad outlines of Mr. Romney’s biography — the son of an auto executive and former Michigan governor who married his high school sweetheart and went off to Harvard before making his private equity fortune — do not make for the kind of story most voters can identify with. Indeed, a recent poll showed that President Obama has an empathy edge over Mr. Romney.

But people can identify with a person of mixed race whose father deserted him as an infant, whose mother took him to a foreign country where he was raised a Muslim for several years and then dumped him back on his American grandparents who sent him to elite private schools in Hawaii and transferred from a non elite college to elite colleges, ending up in Chicago hanging out with known Communists and terrorists to become a community organizer?

During 20 years of campaigning, Mitt’s general history of this nature has been well covered, especially during the previous election cycle of 2006-2008.

Some of this is not useful to Mitt, such as why he was in France while his father was campaigning as the anti-war candidate for president, it draws attention to why he was sent there, what he was doing there, and the lifestyle he lived while there, during the Vietnam war and the draft.

"...all thanks to Mr. RomneyCARE and his death panels."

Is the way the program is working now the way it was passed, or has subsequent legislation changed things? I am hopeful that he has learned a lesson form this. He is adamant about ending Obamacare, so what does this mean?

Thank you for posting this, I agree 100%. I’ve bitten my tongue when saying anything positive about Romney was discouraged here, and I do not care one whit about his religion. I will say unequivocally that I admire and support Mitt and Ann Romney.

IMO, the author is actually a liberal mole, slyly reminding all the folks who wished they'd been in France instead of Vietnam about this chapter of Romney's life.

Identification is a stupid way to make choices. I have a background, family, and had an upbringing very similar to Zero - and I do feel sympathy for the miserable, confused childhood he must have had - that doesn’t make me want to vote for him. I don’t vote for someone because they are like me, I vote for someone who will be an effective leader in pursuing policies that will be good for the country.

“Barack Obama had his search for identity, born of his mixed-race heritage and of the father who abandoned him when he was 2.”

This is just more NYT nonsense. Obama’s father didn't abandon him when he was 2. Obama’s supposed father never saw him and never lived with his mother and Barack. Obama’s mother went to Seattle shortly after Barack was born. Obama's supposed father left Hawaii for Massachusetts when Barack was less than 1 year old.

The MSM repeats the same lies and false narrative over and over.
