On the dystopia scale, Iran probably rates as a better place to live than North Korea or Zimbabwe, but not by much.

You may be right about the immediate conditions, but I think North Korea and Zimbabwe have better prospects for recovery. North Korea is like East Germany in 1989, but admittedly a lot sicker, but there was a path to wellness. Zimbabwe might become another garden variety African kleptocracy. Where can Iran go? What tradition or model do they have to follow?

There IS protection for young married girls... a six or seven year old girl can be permanently damaged by sex with a 30 or 40 year old man... Often these children - later 'women' can't stop peeing on themselves. Hubby doesn't want to bother with them - because they stink to high heaven - and they become street people. The ‘help’ these women are offered: people are suppose to give them charity...alms... That's it. Just wanted you to know so you wouldn't totally condemn the culture - all cultures being equal and all.../s
