Study: Suburbs are major source of guns used in Chicago crimes(IL)

A study of guns seized by Chicago police shows that suburban gun shops are a main source of guns used in crimes in the city.

The research shows that some 29 percent of the guns recovered on Chicago's streets between 2008 and the end of March were bought in the Cook County suburbs. Lake County, Ind., was the second largest source, accounting for 6 percent of the weapons, and other counties surrounding Chicago — including Lake County, Ill., and Will, DuPage and Kane counties — were also among the top 10 sources.

Two gun stores in suburban Lyons and Riverdale accounted for more than 10 percent of the guns recovered.

---------------------cut----------------------------

The study covers 17,230 guns the ATF successfully traced after they were recovered in Chicago. Many guns can't be traced because of their age or other factors, said Seth Bour, the Crime Lab's deputy director.

Well, I for one am convinced ... we need to outlaw the suburbs.

More specifically, we need to herd the proles into the cities, and leave the wide open former suburbs for the ruling elite and media glitterati to build their country estates.

Where did the other 71% come from and how many are Fast & Furious guns coming north from the cartels to wage proxy wars in Chicago?

okay. First of all -- STOO-PID Study!

Since there are NO Gun Stores in Chicago, and NO Guns sold in any kind of Chicago stores, like the Sports Dept of a Wal-Mart, where do these MORONS think they'll come from? The 'Gun Fairy'? Ergo, those who live South go to Riverdale, East to Indiana, West to Lyons and North to ... well you get the idea. So yeah.. the guns are bought in Suburbs. HUGE SHOCK!.. ya dingbats.

But here's an idea for you Mr Dan Hinkel of the Tribune. If you don't like it that these suburban gun shops are selling guns that wind up in gang-banger hands they could just stop selling firearms to all Blacks and Hispanics. How about that? It makes sense since they apparently can't control themselves and act responsible. At least that's what you're inferring there Bub. They're 'abusing' their 2nd Amendment Right so just take it away from them. Forget that FBI background check that they passed, they're ALL potential criminals anyway. Right Dan.

It is my understanding that having a gun in the city is illegal....

McDonald v. Chicago, 561 US 3025 (2010), ring a bell? It might be illegal to carry a gun (depending) in Chicago, but not possess one.

Of course, the Great Confiscation will have to happen before the suburbs are cleared of trash.

The saints that live in Chicago would be in HEAVEN if it wasn’t for guns, white people, the suburbs, drugs, fast food, pollution and alcohol bringing them down

I have the solution. Build a giant wall around the City of Chicago and cut it off entirely from the rest of the State. It’s for their own good. Allow only two points of access. Say one at O’Hare and the other through the Skyway.

This is the same gun shop that has been under siege by Jesse Jackson and the gun grabbers. Jackson and his group threatened to “Snuff” kill the owner of the gun shop.

Chicago gangs don’t have to go far to buy guns

BY FRANK MAIN

You might think the Deep South is the biggest source of the firearms in the hands of Chicago’s criminals.

Maybe you heard about the less-restrictive gun laws in the South or the high-profile cases the feds have brought against gun traffickers moving weapons from Mississippi and other states to Chicago — the Dixie pipeline.

But the truth is most guns recovered in crimes here were originally bought in Illinois.

More specifically, in Cook County.

And the No. 1 supplier of those weapons is just a short drive from Chicago, Chuck’s Gun Store in south suburban Riverdale.

Gun Advocate Wants Priest’s ‘Snuff’ Comments Investigated
Nathan Burchfiel
Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) - A gun rights advocate wants the Justice Department to investigate a Catholic priest who during a weekend anti-gun rally threatened to “snuff out” a Chicago gun store owner.

As Cybercast News Service reported earlier, Rev. Michael Pfleger said Saturday in comments aimed at Chuck’s Gun Shop owner John Riggio, “we’re going to find out and snuff you out.”

Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina’s Church in Chicago, told the crowd “we’re going to snuff out John Riggio, we’re going to snuff out legislators that are voting ... against our gun laws and we’re coming for you because we are not going to sit idly.”

To “snuff” can mean to sniff, inhale, or extinguish. It is also commonly used as a slang term for “to kill.”

Pfleger made the comments during an anti-gun rally sponsored by Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. Pfleger and his church are active in anti-gun and anti-gang efforts in Chicago.

In a letter to Assistant U.S. Attorney General Wan Kim obtained by Cybercast News Service, Second Amendment Foundation President Alan Gottlieb requested an investigation of the threat and defended Riggio’s character.

“Mr. Riggio is the operator of a legal business that operates under both Illinois state law and federal statute,” he wrote. “He has harmed nobody to my knowledge, and yet he has been repeatedly subjected to harassment, character assassination and now, what appears to be a threat of bodily harm.”

Gottlieb said he viewed Pfleger’s comments as “a serious threat to Mr. Riggio’s safety and civil rights” and urged Kim to investigate.

The real question unanswered is how many of the recovered guns were “walked” from Indiana gun shops to Chicago street gangs by ATF like they did in the border states to Mexico?

ATF has been running a domestic version of “Fast and Furious” at home and arming big city street gangs using the same failed rationale as F&F. Of course, the ATF is silent and the MSM will not investigate. Calling Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News.

I contacted Daniel Hinkel of the Chicago Tribune to find out more about the study. I asked for the title, date published, and author(s).

He did not know. Here is his reply:

There are no guns used in crimes in Chicago.

It’s illegal.
