It was a moment to hail a great hero - a chance to remember a man who placed America at the forefront of space exploration and in the history books forever.

And yet President Obama saw the passing of Neil Armstrong, the first man to step on the moon, as a chance for a picture opportunity - of himself. After the death of the 82-year-old on Saturday, Obama's team chose to mark the loss by posting an image of the president gazing up at the moon on his Tumblr account.

...And, if the self-promotion at a time of tragedy was not enough of an insult, blogger SooperMexican noticed that the photograph was in fact a Obama 2012 stock image, taken four months ago. 'What a way for the worst president in recent memory to egotistically dishonor the death of an indisputable American hero,' the scathing blog added.

Have funeral arrangements been made yet? I hope the family keeps it private and lets Obama know he’s not welcome.

If I got to meet Neil Armstrong, I would have been listening, not talking.
It's ironic that the big ears wasn't all ears.

There I was, Mr. Armstrong, praying to Allah with my classmates and making fun of America when all of the sudden, over the radio, they announced that the lying Americans had claimed they landed on the moon! Can you imagine?

Screw that. I am putting my flag at half-mast right now, and leaving it there.

As I recall, they were at half-mast for a while when Fat Teddy went down.

Our flag has been at half-staff since yesterday.

Flags flew at half staff for three days for Ted Kennedy.

It was to commemorate the duration of his hangovers.
