Romney says abortion legal for mother's health [to CBS on 8/27/2012]

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Republican Mitt Romney says he is in favor of abortion in cases of rape, incest and the health and life of the mother.

The presidential candidate's addition of the health of the mother is certain to raise questions about Romney's position among conservatives. Health can be broadly defined and, in fact, running mate Paul Ryan has challenged the health exception as a major loophole.

Romney commented in an interview Monday with CBS News.

Romney's position on abortion rights has evolved. When he ran for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, he backed abortion rights. As a presidential candidate, he has opposed abortion rights and says the Supreme Court should reverse the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion.

In a statement, Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said Romney's position is clear — that he opposes abortion except for cases of rape, incest and where the life of the mother is threatened.

Yeah Rule 12 is still in place: where the RNC can change the primary rules at any time without delegates input or knowledge instead of every 4 years at the convention.

Jeb Bush sees a potential grassroots candidate in 2020 as a threat? Well, his buddies in RNC will just change the rules to make it more difficult for that poor fellow, President Romney feels that Sarah might challenge him in 2016? His friends will rigged the prinary process before any delegates can have a say so

Thanks for the link. Isn’t PP about to spend millions attacking Romney? He’s so predictable.... And like you say, health means anything from the sniffles to blemish issues, and women know that. In a word (regarding those defenseless), Mitt’s a bum; just ask Seamus.

Gee, it’s hard to believe that Governor Palin isn’t welcome at the Mitt Romney convention.

When was the last time the second biggest leader in the GOP was banned from the convention?

Ain’t that the truth? If it wasn’t so painful, it would be funny.

Originally read about rule 12 and 15. Then read of compromise on a couple of others. I can’t find anything official on conclusions, but last post on malkin’s site indicates 12 hangs out there yet.

The word, “overturned”, or “axed” has not been applied anywhere.
smirk. :/

Maybe Romney is the false prophet to Ovomits anti-christ? Given that LDS believe in their modern day prophets, that would be somehow appropriate.

I honestly don’t know what to do at this point, other than vote for conservative Congresscritters and think about ignoring the vote for president. I have never trusted Romney, and I am having my concerns pretty much affirmed.

Obama is worse, of course, but to vote for someone solely because there is a miniscule chance that the economy could turn around and that he might support Israel, but knowing where he stands on Romneycare and on abortion, doesn’t seem to me to be a good alternative.

Them there Mayans and survivalists may have it right.

Am I supposed to be surprised? Must’ve missed the memo. This was sickeningly predictable. Romney’s lips are moving, but all I hear is the sound of an Etch-A-Sketch shaking.

Check out michelemalkin.com for a running account of tonight’s delegate scramble, for coherent coverage. You both retain what you read better than I on details. Cspan will be covering the Rules vote in the morning.

Zero isn't the anti-Christ. The Book of Revelation says the Antichrist is given power to 'make war with the saints, and overcome them' (Rev 13:7). Zero has no chance to overcome the saints. We're wise to him.

However, it appears that a significant number of saints have already willingly surrendered to Romney. Which is a crying shame.

I'm not suggesting that Mitt Romney is the Antichrist. So don't assume that. But I am suggesting that he's at least as dangerous in his beliefs as Obama -- and perhaps more so because he claims to be a conservative. Which he clearly isn't.

That’s why I refuse to support Romney. Not giving any money to RINOs. The most I can do is go to Google and click on Obama’s (pay per click) ads over and over again to rake up the charges.

Mitt Romney doesn't seem to be a big abortion supporter in his own life. Reality is this: many Americans of all political stripes are fornicators. They get pregnant and have to get rid of their "mistake". They NEED abortion.

There isn't a politician in existence who can take away their right to fornicate or, in this era, their right to abort. Is what it is. Instead of slamming Romney we should cry out with Isaiah: "I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips."

Romney and his people have always said that position was Reagan being pro-choice. So according to his own definition, Romney has always said he was pro-choice. Except when he said he had never said he was pro-choice.

Romney is against abortion for Mormons.

Romney has excommunicated Mormons for doing things that do not serve the cult.

Mitt Romney has excommunicated Mormons, for having abortions.
