Like Katrina, Isaac is due for Democrats' political spin
The Orlando Sentinel ^ | 8/28/2012 | William T Russell

Posted on 08/28/2012 4:28:05 AM PDT by Bill Russell

Tampa and the Republican convention seem to have dodged the initial impact of Tropical Storm Isaac. But the full impact of its political spin has yet to be felt.

Issac is building power over the Gulf of Mexico as I write this, and the power of the political spin builds as the storm approaches the landfall areas of Hurricane Katrina. While no one wishes for Isaac to follow the map track of Katrina, those living in its path need to prepare for the wind, rain and storm surges. Those following its political track need to brace for the impact of the political spin to follow the storm. Never a group to let a disaster go to waste, the Obama campaign is waiting to unleash the fury of its spin on the storm with a maximum of political effects.

A catastrophe is a terrible thing to squander.

It’s expected to be a Cat 1 at best.

For people there, that is just a heavy thunderstorm. I wouldnt be shocked if you see video of people walking by the shore just to see it.

I’m sure they will survive without that idiot’s “concern”.

Wow- great piece, but as an Orlando area resident I’m surprised the Sentinel published it.

are you kidding?

the idiot barack has Bobbie Jindal as a governor, not the blubbering incompetent Kathleen Blanco

after the winds die and the waters recede the idiot will personally take a staff of photographers down to the chocolate city to take pictures of him handing out water and backslapping Bobbie Jindal

However, if the storm hits and New Orleans is prepared, then we as conservatives can tout a new republican led Louisiana handled the storm like no previous admin had, and Bush’s cleanup measures and rebuilding measures worked. This is an easy one if we don’t play the media’s game

How ironic will it be if Obama benefits from the fact that a COMPETENT Republican governor is in charge where it really matters...

Even if Isaac turns out to be nothing but a beneficial rain for the drought-plagued Mississippi, Obama has already dispatched FEMA to hand out free VISA cards in New Orleans. The sales of flat screen TVs will go up, and everyone will be happy.

Of course, the msm will contrast Obama’s great leadership with Pres. Bush, who killed Blacks during Katrina.

Hopefully Gov. Jindal will tell him to stay on the golf course. We don’t want that useless chump down here.

This is really pathetic. The initial failure was at the local level. Plus the fact that the woman governor who was supposed to be in charge CRIED during the crisis. Jindal will show them how it's done, just as he did during the BP spill.

They forget that this time at least Louisiana has a competent Governor and we will just wait to see the outcome if for some reason Federal help is not needed and if it is, in a very limited role.

This wishing for catastrophe for political gain will come back to bite them in the a$$ as well.

I think Big Media and leftist freaks dishonestly ran with the eastern-most prediction model(s) as long as they could to influence/scare the conventioners as much as possible, and are now quietly celebrating their 25%+ reduction in time.

I've never heard so much hype over a tropical storm - its not even a hurricane!! My girlfriends mother got so worked up from all the news that she called to see if my parents (who live in FL) would be OK. Had to tell her not to worry, it's not a hurricane and it's no where near Ft. Lauderdale. You would think this thing was a cat 5 storm by the way the media is blubbering about it. I suspect they are hoping this tropical depression will hit just like Katrina so they can say what a fine job 0bama did compared to Bush (never mind the fact it's a far weaker storm). Flooding and storm surges could be a big issue, I know, lets hope no one looses life or property.

Naw, that was NOAA's doing. I live in Fort Myers FL, and for a while, it was "headed" for us, but I KNEW it would go out west, even though NOAA had it headed straight for me. Why? Because the two most reliable models had it headed out into the gulf, while the other few had it going east. NOAA averages out all the models to get the projected path. What they should do is weight the average more strongly in favor of the models which have shown themselves to be more historically accurate.

Maybe we will get to see if the George Bush Memorial Flood Gates at the lake end of the outflow canals that magically appeared within 6 months after Katrina will work.

That would be cool. What Jindal is actually doing, though, is asking for more and more Federal assistance.

Blanco refused federal aid and then blamed Bush. Do you think it would be smart for Jindal to do the same?
