I am glad that Romney is showing his butt before it is too late. You guys have been in this dream fantasy of conservative Romney who I and a few others told you it was not true. He is the clone of Obama through and through and this proves it again.

Sadly, I have to agree. Might as well push the plunger, huh?

This move will (in addition to the upcoming hussein suprises) will assure the kenyan gets re-elected.

Romney stabbing the foundational support for the party in the back. Where are all these “oh we gotta vote Romney” types now. Tossing the Tea Party under the bus with Romney now are they?

JR has been right along- no RINOS.

Can we NOW ONCE AND FOR ALL KICK HIM TO THE CURB?????

Is that not what the GOPe is trying to prevent by doing what they are attempting to do?

Why oh why would one support a socialist tyrant when we already have a better socialist tyrant in office?

As Bob said..."when will they ever learn, when will they ever learn".

I have no idea what they are thinking, but I bet this is a Karl Rove move. Karl Rove turns out to be the very worst thing that ever happened to Republicans.

If the right splinters it will not be because of that 25 percent. It will be because the establishment marginalized and runs them off. Which they are rapidly doing.

When you face it honestly Romney is not that different from Obama. I dislike individuals like Romney for the same reasons I do not like Obama. They are not thinking in terms of the constitution or the well being of hard working Americans. Nothing will change under Romney except the military receiving more funding.

One of my delegates doesn't seem to have entered the cell phone world yet. He's out of the office until September 5th. Left a voice mail for the other one.

This is what FreedomWorks is asking us to say:

Please call your state's Rules Committee delegates here and ask that they oppose the "compromise" on Rule 15, oppose Rule 12, and support the full Minority Reports on the Rules.

Hey, I am not making excuses for them, I am just stating the excuses that I predict they will give.

There is something to this issue that I think is being over looked. It’s the influence of the Libertarians, who want to see the social conservatives, excluded. The Libertarians have been causing trouble at state conventions over “rules”. This is their M. O. The goal is simply to disrupt the convention and prevent real work from getting done.

It’s not being overlooked. This is a coalition of convenience between the Tea Party and the Paulites. Both of us lose if these rules pass. We will obviously have our separate battles with them in the future. But we both die on the battlefield today if these rules pass. Besides, if the Tea Party got more organized and mastered the delegate rules like the Paulites, we’d easily overwhelm them in numbers. They’re not much of a threat.

both of Florida’s Rules Committee members, Peter Feaman and Kathleen King, have been removed from the Rules committee and replaced with Romney-appointed delegates.

Clearly anticipating a grassroots backlash against the “compromise” on Rule 15 and the changes on Rule 12 has caused the Romney camp to preemptively replace delegates to ensure they have support on the Rules Committee.

It’s enough to make your blood boil. Please call your state’s Rules Committee delegates here and ask that they oppose the “compromise” on Rule 15, oppose the changes to Rule 12, and support the full Minority Reports on the Rules.

UPDATE: Delegations we should be focusing on include the following states: North Carolina, Oregon, Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

It sounds to me, like a candidate’s campaign ought to be able to vet any delegate elected under their name. Seems like that should be done before they go on the ballot though.

I think letting rules changes be done outside of the conventions is dangerous and gives too much power to the GOP-e.

What Rove and Romney are doing is making sure that “a good crisis doesn’t go to waste.” The Paulite interference is being used to justify this massive power grab. It’s your classic Hitleresque/Obamaesque strategy. Use some jinned up “crisis” to stage a massive takeover by the central authority over individual freedom.

The point is that there are two choices: we run off and hide in the wilderness, never to be heard from again.

Or, conservatives take over the GOP and call the shots.

Instead of being sufficiently organized to unify behind a single conservative in the primaries and easily marginalize Romney, we got ourselves a RINO.

Instead of unifying behind a RINO+Tea Party VP ticket and then run Ryan after an 8 year conservative track record, we're going to end up with an unrestrained Marxist with a "mandate."

Trojan Horse scenario, deluxe! Sadly, delegates and posters alike are busy looking at the sparklers when the damn countryside is in flames behind them!

It’s brilliant establishment strategy, but the people are proved at last to be too ignorant to man the gunship.

We are to naive to mount a convention counter attack.

The rules, parliamentarian and procedural rules, are above the pay grade of too many delegates.

In WA State, there was a law suit, by a Pauler, to force the Republicans to free the delegates to vote for Ron Paul. I think that there was another similar law suit in another state, as well.

The WA state Republicans have been having trouble with the Libertarians for a few years. The Libertarians have attempted to disrupt the state and county conventions for several years, now. They keep proposing rule changes and taking exception to every part of the platform, dragging the conventions out, late into the night, with no real gain. They object to every socially conservative line in the platform.

It's one thing I hate about conventions. To the GOPe wonks it looks like a clever ploy and a brilliant maneuver. That it serves to pull the rug out from under everything their boss got from conservatives from naming Ryan doesn't seem to register.

These are the people who are holding our country hostage against defection to a third party with the 0bama threat, which is a legitimate threat just as a kidnapper's gun to his victim is a legitimate threat. They never learn, they never get it, and they walk away from every defeat with the conviction intact that they're smarter than everyone else.

Yeah, the Paulers might lose this time, but it is the influence of the Paulers on the inside the beltway Republicans that has brought this whole thing to a head.

Oh, it didn’t take much convincing to portray the social conservatives as ignorant hay seeds, “clinging to their God and guns”, but the Paulers have been working hard, just the same. Now, that they have succeeded in splitting the party, they should be happy. They got what they wanted.

If Romney loses as a result of the Libertarian disruption, Obama will be the only one who wins. I hope you and your friends are satisfied and happy.

Your points are not lost on me, Laz. I understand fully, and I'm not comfy with any of this either. But I am 100% Tea Party, make no mistake. Here's how I try to rationalize it: I think the Tea Party needs to adopt a take on Arnold's phrase in The Terminator:

WE'LL BE BACK! ( do you get my drift?)

Yes, we'll be back! But until we can take over completely, I'm not going to cut my own nuts off...I'll only have to sew them back on....and what's the point in that? Might as well hold my nose, vote the ticket, and then pound that old Budweiser into me, and go get 'em tomorrow.

A truly conservative administration is not going to happen over night. It's sort of two steps forward, one back, but that's still going forward. Tea Party progress is not going to slow down either...not if I can help in any small way. Count on it. If they split, I'm with them. If they infiltrate and take over, I'm with them. Always.
