Clint Eastwood To Speak At Republican Convention on Thursday: Fox News

Clint Eastwood will be speaking at the Republican Convention in Tampa on Thursday according to Fox News. The network’s website is reporting that a GOP source confirmed “that Eastwood is indeed the mystery speaker”. Thursday night’s line-up has a “To Be Announced” speaker scheduled ahead of Senator Marco Rubio and GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney himself. Eastwood’s name was floated earlier this week as the speaker along with former VP nominee Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and even a hologram of former President Ronald Reagan. No stranger to politics, Eastwood served as the Mayor of Carmel, California from 1986 to 1988. He supported John McCain in 2008 and endorsed Mitt Romney earlier this month at a Sun Valley fundraiser. “Now more than ever do we need Mitt Romney, I’m going to be voting for him,” the Oscar winner said as the GOP nominee stood next to him on August 4. If Eastwood is really heading to Tampa to speak Thursday evening, he’s going to have to get going soon. Deadline has learned that as of Wednesday afternoon, the actor/director was still at his home in Carmel. Eastwood’s latest film, Trouble With The Curve comes out on September 21, 2012.

Darn. Darn.
There goes the fun rumors that FNC canceled Palin’s appearances last night to avoid a conflict when she spoke tonight at the convention and then Romney handed the delegates and Ryan over to her and she says "Thank you Mitt, I will take it from here".

Eastwood is one of my favorite actors but from an appearance view he is getting on in age and really looks it. I am sure he will give a good speech.

If Eastwood is going to assume the role of Elder Conservative Hollywood Statesman, he would do well to review Heston's "Cold, dead hands," speech....

On my radio news program just minutes ago they were interviewing the press director for the RNC and he referenced the rumors about Eastwood being the surprise guest... And he said “don’t believe everything you read”. So... Maybe not? Dunno, but there’s that.

My sentiments exactly. We’ll see how it goes. Could be good; could be a dud. We’ll see.

“..getting on in age...”

Hard to believe the man who dual-wielded MP40 submachine guns in “Where Eagles Dare” is now in his 80s.

Also stellar in “Kelly’s Heroes”.

Always one of my favorite actors as well. He’s the eternal movie badass hero.

“Get off my lawn...” Sorta coins how the rest of us feel about the current admin, don’t it....

I trust you are not being sarcastic. The reality we have here; it is what it is. Change what we can now and then make those we disagree with fully aware of the same reality they face from us once Judge Roberts says “Congratulations, Mr. President”.

Good on ya.

She certainly represents a good section of it, but Obama’s media made short work of her

But they didn’t affect her ability to impact the down ticket races. Looking at some of those she supported shows why our bench is very strong.

Martinez, Haley, Ayotte, Cruz to name a few.

Didn’t compare with his past masterpieces, but informative, and entertaining.

DeCaprio did a good job portraying J. Edgar, as did Armie Hammer as his sidekick , who knows what companion.

"Thank you Mitt, I will take it from here".

LOL. Hey it can still happen, the time would be during Romney's own speech. "I cannot except your nomination....."

Or even later. He can win and then inform the electors he's withdrawing.

I also think that she'll run for the Senate as an Arizonian. I believe she'll be endorsed by McCain as his successor when he retires, probably after he completes his present term. I think this is why she's describing him in such glowing terms these days.

Sarah has few options right now. She'll never be tapped for top 'o the ticket again, she'll not be offered an appointment by Romney to a post of any note, the entertainment/TV gigs will dry up as a reliable source of income, the lecture circuit is devastating to home and family life, she's too intelligent to try to form a third party from scratch, plus Alaska is a political Siberian dead-end for her now.

I happen to think she would make an excellent, innovative senator, bringing energy, excitement and conservative leadership to the smug, tired, arrogant, lazy, complacent and clueless members of our country's House of Lords.

As an extra added bonus, a Senator Palin would be in an excellent positition to influence future presidential apppointments to the Supreme Court.

In short, I see (and hope for) a successful run as senator from Arizona for Sarah Palin in the future.

I was not being sarcastic. I was appreciating your ability to recognize and do what you can to make sure we aren't doomed to repeat an awful history.
