Rove makes Akin murder joke

In a closed-door fundraiser at the Republican National Convention, Karl Rove reportedly joked about the murder of Missouri GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin.

“We should sink Todd Akin. If he’s found mysteriously murdered, don’t look for my whereabouts!” joked Rove, according to a Businessweek report of the fundraiser.

Sheelah Kolhatkar, an editor for Bloomberg Businessweek, was invited to the event as a guest of top Republican donor who was aware she was a journalist. The invite gave her a behind-the-scenes look at the otherwise-private event.

At the event, Rove urged attendees to urge Akin to get out of the race, citing Missouri’s Senate race as a major obstacle to Republicans taking over the Senate.

“We have five people who are interested” in replacing Akin as the Senate candidate, Rove said. “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get Akin out.”

Rove and other top Republicans called on Akin to leave the race after his controversial comments two weeks ago on “legitimate rape” and his mistaken comment about how conception through rape rarely occurs.

He should start running anti-McCaskill adds in Missouri or give the Akin campaign enough to run their own. We’re waiting Karl.

Exactly that is why his apology is meaningless

xzins, some of Akin’s record. We need MORE like Akin!
Todd Akin’s conservative record. We are fighting to pick up more conservative seats such as Akin NOT throw them away. It has been a long hard battle to place true constitutionalists in DC. The republican party should throw their support behind Akin and get to the real reason we need to defeat Claire McCaskill. Akin made a mistake in words, apologized and now we need to rally behind him. Fact is ..Akin is more conservative than Blunt, Bond or Romney.

One would think Rove could better accentuate a point than referring — even jokingly — to the murder of someone.

A murder threat against a member of congress or a candidate must be a federal offense....

After all...the congress critters look to support themselves first....like:

1. exemption from social security and private pension plans.

2. a doctors or first responders office on each floor of their office buildings

3. exempt from Obamacare

4. insider stock trading

5. and general abuse of the office....

as Clint Eastwood said the other day "you are our employees"

So....getting over the rant...

What's the Federal situation regarding a murder threat to a congress critter....?

Well .. Rove has really stepped in it now.

I thought he had better sense than that. If he had just shut up about it .. Akin would be behind us already.

Rove’s data on the states is really amazing .. too bad a lot of people will no longer pay attention to it.
