Akin's spokesman Ryan Hite confirmed that some members of Akin's campaign staff, and some volunteers, have received threatening emails, some of which assert their careers might be ruined if they stay with Akin.
A source close to Akin provided the Beacon a copy of one such email that allegedly came from a GOP committeeperson in central Missouri. The sender’s name had been blacked out.
“Many within the Republican Party have noticed your energetic and passionate work with Todd Akin’s Senate campaign,” the note read. “You are young, well spoken, and likeable. I have spoken with many other state committeemen and women and there is a consensus among those who know of you that you may very well be a rising star within the Missouri GOP. But not if you stay on Todd Akin’s failing campaign.”
The note continued, “I do not want to see your future in Missouri politics tarnished, and if you continue to support Mr. Akin’s bid for Senate by working on his campaign, the MRP will have no choice but to refuse support for any future political endeavors you may have."
A spokesman for the Missouri Republican Party condemned such a note, and said party leaders did not condone such activities.
“None of the more than 2,800 Republican committee members across the state has the authority to speak on behalf of the Missouri Republican Party,” said state party spokesman Jonathon Prouty. “We cannot verify the authenticity of this unsourced email, but we do know that it was absolutely not authorized or sent by the MRP. The content of this email does not in any way reflect the views of the Missouri Republican Party, and we strongly condemn this type of politics.”
Akin spokesman Hite said the campaign would not comment on its reaction to the emails or that of staff who have received them. But he added, “We’re all still here.”
Well the Sunday talk show hosts will not waste this opportunity. Perhaps they should invite Karl Rove on to try to explain it away and then interview the empty chair when he doesn't show up.

There is an easier explanation that fits what we’re seeing from the gop. The decision has been made to essentially jettison the “noncompliant” conservatives. While its a very risky strategy from the gop point of view, I think they’ve pretty much decided to double down on moving the gop to the left. And it makes some sense from their perspective. I mean what are they supposed to do with this unruly rabble of TEA partiers and rough around the edges conservatives that are always bickering and distracting them from the important task of divvying up the boodle?
Conservatives are basically being told to shut up or not to let the door hitya where the Lord splitya. That will become much more apparent should willard win.
I detest Rove. Fox News should fire him for that comment. IF Akin loses MO it is because of Rove, Coulter and etc for jumping the gun and jumping ship.
He is so despicable that it would not surprise me to find him supporting McCasket against Akin in the election — surreptitiously of course.

During his initial Senate campaign Tom Coburn remarked: “lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they’ll only let one girl go to the bathroom.” and still won by double digits.
Seems to me Republicans were able to avoid any problem from Akin’s initial remarks and the Dems wasted monry and time trying to ecploit it without success- when they should have been expending that time and money on other issues.
Heck, Rove may be intentionally making comments like that quoted in an effort to help Akin LOL!
His time has passed but he’s no dummy.

We all want to beat McCasKILL. Many of us believe Akin has done harm to the pro-life cause, blown the seat, given the RATS an issue they will ride to November, and any money and time given to him is wasted. Since those are limited commodities, there are better places to put our time and money. Yeah, Todd, we really believe it when you say, “It’s not about me.” Nonsense. He worked hard to get to this position. Of course it is about him. He is not the only pro-life conservative. I will apologize in November if I am wrong and be pleased if I am wrong. I believe there are pro-life conservatives who could stomp McCasKILL. But he is not one of them.
Rove apologizes to Mo. Rep. Akin for murder quip
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Republican strategist Karl Rove has apologized to Congressman Todd Akin after joking about the Missouri Senate candidate being murdered.
Akin campaign adviser Rick Tyler told The Associated Press that Akin accepted Rove’s apology during a phone call Friday. A Rove spokesman didn’t return messages Friday from the AP.

If Rove truly said this, we must raise the hue and cry that Romney must disassociate himself from Rove — immediately and completely, just as that doofus McCain (stupidly) disassociated himself from one of his key supporters (John Hagee), and just as the GOPe demanded total separation from Akin.
If Romney does not disassociate himself from this slanderous, vile man named Rove, we should publicly declare that we cannot vote for him in November.
Time to take the gloves off.

i’ve been on the akin bus since he was attacked by the republican establishment (and most of their so called “conservative” media as well). knew it immediately for what it was.
now i’d like to find out the names of his missouri back-stabbers but more than that, i’d really like to know the names of his loyal, patriotic staffers. i’m going to keep track of their political “careers” and do what ever i can to back them.
and, yes, just wrote yet another check at akin.org and may God bless his loyal campaign staff.
