Chick-fil-A ‘Tastes Like Hate’ vandal won’t be charged: D.A.

TORRANCE, CA, August 31, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Manuel Castro may have accused Chick-fil-A of peddling hate, but police say they have determined that he wasn’t motivated by hate when he vandalized a Chick-fil-A restaurant earlier this month.

Castro, a gay activist, had scrawled the words “Tastes Like Hate,” along with a cow holding a paintbrush, on the side of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Torrance, California, on “National Same-Sex Kiss Day” – an event organized to protest company CEO Dan Cathy’s stance in support of traditional marriage.

“National Same-Sex Kiss Day” followed on the heels of Chick-fil-A “Appreciation Day,” on which hundreds of thousands of traditional marriage supporters had lined up, sometimes for several hours, to dine at Chick-fil-A as a show of their support for Cathy.

Photos of Castro’s graffiti traveled far and wide in the media, becoming one of the most recognizable images from the kerfuffle.

But police announced this week that Castro would not be charged with a felony in connection with the vandalism.

“The suspect has acknowledged his wrongdoing and offered to make restitution,” the District Attorney’s office said in a notice rejecting prosecution. “Finally, the record does not establish the suspect was motivated by religious hatred.”

However, the D.A. said the case has been referred to the Torrance City Attorney’s Office “for consideration of possible misdemeanor prosecution.”

In an interview with the Huffington Post after the graffiti was discovered, Castro had compared marriage supporters lining up to eat lunch at Chick-fil-A to Christians protesting blacks marrying whites.

“Everybody is entitled to free speech, but it seems like for the gay tribe, this is more of an issue of equal rights, human rights,” said Castro. “I’m against what these people stand for, what this company stands for. They’re trying to take away what little rights we already have.”

In a subsequent statement Castro offered to pay for the damages – which reportedly totaled several hundred dollars to repaint the wall.

Hate, hate, hate, and more hate. I'm getting sick and tired of seeing these Leftists label everyone who can't agree with them with awful labels like "bigot", "intolerant", and "racist". Their tactics are so underhanded and rely so much on deception. Why is it that these Leftists cannot see themselves as the true hate-mongers that they are? Disgraceful cowards!

Crimes are Crimes

Hate Crimes are Though Crimes, regulated by Mind Police...

you can arrest as many people who commit acts of violence and theft, by arresting them for those crimes, not some nebulous thought crime.

but if there are to be charges of Hate Crimes....it will only be against those on the Right.

This is unacceptable.

In FL a 21 yo homeless man is sentenced to 180 days and a $500 fine for stealing $2 in candy, returning to the store later and confessing, all while it'll cost Chick Fil A more to remove, clean and repaint yet that perpetrator will see no prosecution. The DA's inaction is politically motivated.

You all are missing the point. This occurred in the Socialist State of California. In Obamaland’s Socialist States, Law Enforcement doesn't have to enforce ALL the Laws. Just those that they ‘feel’ should be enforced. Pray that we take the two branches of Government this November that can rectify this travesty. And pray that we get the chance for 2 more Supreme Court nominations. I HOPE that Romney will choose Justices who will APPLY the Law as it as written. Not CHANGE the Law to accommodate those who want to ignore the Law to further their own agenda.

So it looks like the city still hasn't decided yet whether to prosecute this as as a misdemeanor. I agree with the D.A. that it wasn't a felony worthy of a year in prison, but a few weeks of jail or at least working on a road crew for community service would probably be right, along with repayment of damages.

If law enforcement officials don't enforce the laws, isn't that just inviting the law abiding citizens to bring retribution, ad hoc?

Or at the very least, make him clean up his mess. But given the, shall we say, delicate nature of limp-wristed artistes like this, that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

So will this guy settle for being a diversity consultant to Jerry Brown, or will he go for a job with Baraq in DC?

Nah. His sentence should be to scrub the graffiti off the wall and repaint it with his own little hands. Just offering to pay to have it done won't have nearly the same impact.

Amen!: “You all are missing the point. This occurred in the Socialist State of California. In Obamaland’s Socialist States, Law Enforcement doesn’t have to enforce ALL the Laws. Today in America, wanting to follow the law now makes one “Controversial”, radical and evil.

Using math and common sense re saying no to rat spending or terrible green tyranny is evil.

Being a practicing Christian or Jew in today’s America, is a worse evil.

Telling the truth is now evil racism!

Last but not least, believing in personal responsibility is both evil, radical and racist.

This makes perfect sense. Only Christians can hate. Liberals are just bursting with love—so much so that it occasionally spills over into street brawls and vandalism.

I have noticed for over a decade, that any suggestion or action taken by anyone who is Conservative/Republican, always has a pejorative adjective/adverb in front of it. Controversial; extreme; etc. It makes me think that the news writers all attended the same Left-wing school. But I really think that all Schools of Journalism have inculcated their students in the Leftist mindset.
