Wave: GOP Voters at All Time High
Breitbart ^ | 9/1/2012 | Mike Flynn

According to new research released today by Rasmussen, more voters identify themselves as Republican than ever in the last 8 years. More importantly, by a 4 point margin, more voters identify as GOP than Democrat. This is the largest spread between the parties ever. Worse for Democrats, the number of voters who identify with their party is also approaching an historic low.

In August, 37.6% of voters identified themselves as Republican. That is up from 34.9% in July. By contrast, just 33.3% of voters identify themselves as Democrats. That is very near their historic low in February, when 32.4% of voters identified as Democrat. The 4.3 margin in favor of the GOP is the biggest gap ever between the parties. In November 2010, when the GOP won a landslide in the mid-term elections, their advantage was just 1.3 points.

Immediately prior to Obama's inauguration, the Democrat party held a nearly 9 point edge over Republicans. Over 41% of voters called themselves Democrats then, compared to around 32% who were Republicans. It is a stunning reversal as Obama heads into reelection.

So basically add 10 points to Romneys numbers and subtract 10 points from obama’s numbers in the +6 (or more) donk overweighted polls...

This is why using the old D/R weightings in polling is very risky this election. The D/R rules are changing rapidly and the risk-averse pollsters will only make a significant change AFTER they're embarrassed in November.

Really? I always thought Democrats held about a 15% lead in registration.

If this research is accurate, then most of the polls we are seeing are crap.

I am fascinated by the idea that the political campaigns themselves have their own internal polls that often are at odds with the ones shown to the public.

This is one of the many reasons that I eschew television for getting political news. The talking heads always ignore this important concept.

Right... there seems to be so many signs of a blowout brewing everywhere... except in the polls. Come on, come on.

70 people changed their party affiliation to GOP at our county fair booth in one day. And we are in a blue-blue-blue area! I’m beginning to feel some hope in changing things around here.

More like half that. Doesn't mean they gonna show up. That's what the polls like this are trying to measure.

All the pollsters have been giving the Dems a 9-to-15 point advantage in their sampling, just to make it look like a tight horserace.

Small wonder the Obie Klan are shopping around for a January 2013 move to Hawaii.

Not only is party registration a factor, but so is enthusiasm.
