(Reuters) - Pakistani authorities have arrested a Muslim cleric on allegations of framing a Christian girl who was arrested under the country's controversial anti-blasphemy law, a police official said on Sunday.
Religious and secular groups worldwide have protested over the detention in August of Rimsha Masih, accused by Muslim neighbors of burning Islamic religious texts.
Police official Munir Hussain Jafri said a cleric was arrested after witnesses from Masih's village on the edge of the capital Islamabad complained about his alleged actions.
"Witnesses complained that he had torn pages from a Koran and placed them in her bag which had burned papers," Jafri told Reuters.

It is quite possible that the police officers will be lynched, and the suspect freed. There was a case like that, recently, in Pakistan. Very flagrant. Pray for the safety of those administering justice.

A bail hearing will be held on Monday for Masih, whose case has re-focused a spotlight on Pakistan's anti-blasphemy law.
Under the law, anyone who speaks ill of Islam and the Prophet Mohammad commits a crime and faces the death penalty.
So does this mean this cleric will now face punishment under the anti-blasphemy law? And face death for descretating the koran?
I guess so.
So by debating this stupidity we help give shria law more global legitimacy?....the imams are just doing damage control they relise too much international exposure...so they come up with this sht...take the focus off the sharia...

The evils of mohammadism are countless. Was this Imam going to jerk himself as this girl was executed?
I am convinced mohammadism is a product of Satan. There is no other explanation for acts like this.
This guy was so bold as to rip pages out of their holy book right in front of them. It’s probably that desecration that weighed more on the witnesses’ minds than the dirty trick he pulled on the Christian woman.
There’s been an outbreak of (relative) integrity among the Moose there. Someone still has a conscience. At least technically on paper, the Islamic faith does not allow for what he did. You can’t dis the Koran by ripping pages out of it, then expect to scapegoat that onto an infidel. At least not that openly. His future looks rocky.
The difference between this guy and Al Sharpton is that the Pakistani cleric was arrested.
I am so stealing that for a bumper sticker. In fact a person could write a whole song with that as the hook. : )
