About the Author (From Wikipedia ):

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986 with a B.A. in English. He was a Morehead Scholar and on the staff of the student paper, The Daily Tar Heel.[1] Bruni graduated second in his class with an M.S. degree in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. At Columbia he also won a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship.

From 1990 to 1995 he worked for the Detroit Free Press in an assortment of positions including covering the Persian Gulf War. In 1995, Bruni joined The New York Times as a metropolitan reporter and often wrote for the New York Times magazine and for Sunday Arts. He was promoted to the Rome bureau chief (July 2002–March 2004) and worked as a reporter in the Washington, D.C., bureau (December 1998–May 2002). While in D.C., Bruni was assigned to cover Capitol Hill, Congress, Governor George W. Bush’s presidential campaign, and the White House. His book Ambling into History chronicles this assignment.

Bruni wrote in Men’s Vogue of his search for a workout to combat the calories he consumes as a food writer,[2] and in the April 2008 issue he wrote about his addiction to sleeping pills.[3] Bruni’s book, Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater was released in 2009, and spent a week on the New York Times best seller list.[4] Since then he has written general interest and food-related columns for the Times, in part filling the “food writer at large” role that had been unfilled since the 2006 death of the Times’ reporter R. W. Apple, Jr.[5]

In March 2012, Bruni was awarded the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Newspaper Columnist.

Bruni is openly gay.[7] He has struggled with his eating and bulimia

Didn’t read the article. Did the NYT happen to explain how they knew there were no gay speakers at the RNC convention?

The idiot thinks the GOP should go out of its way to offend its own base? Does he think the Democrats should do that too?

Why should the GOP go and look for someone, not because they have something to say, not because they add to the debate, not because they will energize the voting base but just because they are mentally ill with a sexual dysfunction.

Dan Rutherford is Illinois Sec of State and he was the king pin for the Illinois Romney Team. He is as gay as they come.

Gays accounted for.

And still they couldn’t spare so much as a sleeping bag’s bathroom stall's worth of space for the likes of me.

Fat Little Frankie has his claws unsheathed because the skirts took over the Republican Convention. Just proves what I always say: gay activists truly hate women.

Frank Bruni would be better suited going back to being the chief restaurant critic for the NY Slimes and write about cream puffs in that capacity.

I didn’t see any self admitted alchoholics or drug addicts up on stage either. What makes queers think their so damn important that they need to be showcased at a political convention?

I’d bet that we won’t see any Bible-believing Christians speaking at the ‘rat convention either. This is just their sneaky way of trying to undermine the conservative foundation of the party, just as they’ve done with every other institution they’ve infiltrated like termites.

But you certainly didn’t see anyone openly gay on the stage in Tampa.

As I recall, you certainly didn't see any open "furries", Juggalos, goths, dwarf tossing or cosplay enthusiasts on the stage in Tampa, either.

So, your point is?

There might BE “gays” there, but they don’t flame and flaunt it, so nobody either knows or cares.

Hey Frank, I don't care what you do in your bedroom. Frankly Frank, I don't want you to bring your bedroom to the convention floor either.

Frank Bruni’s Week in Review column debuted Sunday and – surprise! – it was all about being gay in America.

"But you certainly didn’t see anyone openly gay on the stage in Tampa."

You also haven't seen any one-armed Serbo-Croatian lesbian discus throwers at any of the DNC functions.

Where's the outrage, Frank?

In March, Bruni devoted a column to a former classmate providing a pat liberal morality lesson that seemed a lot like an invasion of doctor-patient privacy, then attacked Newt Gingrich and insulted Gingrich’s wife. Today Bruni, who is openly gay, goes after Palin’s oldest daughter for hypocrisy and being a bad mother, after Bristol had the audacity to blog her opinion on gay marriage (she’s against it):
