Phillip Kerpen dug this video up from 2008 where Obama promised the Janesville plant specifically the Janesville plant that they could re-tool and be here another 100 years and that hed fight for that future. And he said it knowing that GM was struggling:

Hope the Romney campaign uses these videos in ads.
Where was this the day of the convention?!
The lie has been to 17 other solar systems and vacationed twice before this video was “dug” up.
Good catch Phil!!!
Chair man Obama in a “is it live or is it Memorex” moment...
Facts - especially on tape - are stubborn things...to libs.
Time for some leftwing “fact check” people to eat some crow.
Do pigs fly?
How many promises does Obama keep? He shoots his mouth off and promises the moon and sky to desperate people who think they are getting something for free. He turns around and badmouths the people who are successful.
How about an ad with the Ryan soundbite from the speech, followed by the Obama soundbite at Janesville, followed by Obama, Maddow, Shultz, Biden...it doesn’t matter who, denying the whole thing? Should take about thirty seconds. To be aired prime time during the convention.
yet the criminal liberal media continues to claim Paul Ryan lied by stating the plant closed under Obama:

Well - even if it wasn't planned it worked out pretty well anyway!
PS -
Remember how we were regaled with endless glowing reports of how Obama was on the cutting edge of the information age?
And how he and his tecno-nerds were making fools of the old Horse and Buggy republicans?
I guess the Obamabots haven't heard about that new innovation called video.
IMO there a several examples of baiting a reaction from the WH and then conveniently finding video later proving the point.....Blame it on Breitbart. Expect a series of commercials featuring the “lying now or then” meme.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) — General Motors Corp. has informed the state it plans to lay off an additional 96 workers from its Janesville assembly plant by mid-September.
The layoffs announced Thursday are in addition to the 756 workers who’ll be let go next month. That’s when the factory that makes trucks and other sport utility vehicles will scale back its production shifts from two to one./

Article is from 2008. This plant closed under obama.

From my perspective, to change someone’s politics you need to present facts which challenge their assumptions thereby causing a reevaluation of their opinion/position.
Opportunities to do this on a scale large enough to swing an election are few and far between, the convention being one such opportunity.
When you have an army of “fact checkers” (professional liers) ready to discredit the truth and keep their membership from engaging in a reassessment of their assumptions, you lose the opportunity to maximize the opportunity when you don’t have the evidence at the ready to refute their lies and discredit them and their “analysis”.
So the plant actually closed down its last operations in April 2009. That, coupled with this video proving Obama did give the speech Ryan said he had given at the plant in 2008, proves that what Ryan said not only was accurate, but 100% accurate. Even if it had closed before Obama became President, it would still be accurate because Ryan even set up the context as being that Obama had a difficult situation when he became President, but that things had not gotten better and pointed out the fact the plant still remains closed to this day as evidence.
The left has lied again by falsely accusing someone else of lying and the left-wing media just went right along with it.
