House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday that he would absolutely not be drafted as a presidential candidate. As businessman Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Ohio Gov. John Kasich vie to win the GOP's nomination, many pundits had speculated that Ryan could have entered the fray during a brokered Republican National Convention in July. "I do not want, nor will I accept the nomination," Ryan said. "Period. End of story."

117 Wednesday, presumptive Speaker of the House Congressman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)58% vowed things will be different under his leadership. Ryan said, “This begins a new day in the House of Representatives. Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)37% served with humility and distinction and we owe him a debt of gratitude. But tomorrow we are turning the page. We are not going to have a House that looked like it looks the last few years. We are going to move forward. We are going to unify. Our party has lost its vision and we are going to replace it with a vision....

A bailed out General Motors expanded its small truck and SUV manufacturing in China soon after closing down similar facilities in Janesville, Wisconsin—the plant Barack Obama pledged to save and keep open for “another hundred years” in 2008. GM has increased its manufacturing capacity in China by 55 percent since emerging from bankruptcy thanks to a $50 billion bailout from taxpayers. An important piece of that increased capacity has taken place in Changchun, Jilin Province in China.

Phillip Kerpen dug this video up from 2008 where Obama promised the Janesville plant – specifically the Janesville plant – that they could re-tool and be here another 100 years and that he’d fight for that future. And he said it knowing that GM was struggling:
  • Ryan: 'After Four Years of Getting the Run-Around, America Needs a Turnaround' (Speech excerpts)

Excerpts released by the Romney campaign from Paul Ryan's address tonight to Republican convention in Tampa, Florida: "I accept the calling of my generation to give our children the America that was given to us, with opportunity for the young and security for the old – and I know that we are ready. Our nominee is sure ready. His whole life has prepared him for this moment – to meet serious challenges in a serious way, without excuses and idle words. After four years of getting the run-around, America needs a turnaround, and the man for the job is Governor...

“Dems need to hammer Ryan fast and prove clearly that he is a liar because he is a very skilled pol.” — Howard Fineman, Journalist (?) The Huffington Post To paraphrase Mark Twain, there are three kinds of liars: Liars, damned liars . . . and screaming, foamy-mouthed MSNBC hosts watching Paul Ryan speak. We have now moved into what academics might call the “post-factual” portion of the Obama campaign. For example: Tuesday night Ann Romney gives a warm, charmingly earnest speech. Obama flak Robert Gibbs calls it an “angry” night “full of insults.” What “insults?” He doesn’t say. He just says “Republicans...

Excerpted. "...to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold. The good news is that the Romney-Ryan campaign has likely created dozens of new jobs among the legions of additional fact checkers that media outlets are rushing to hire to sift through the mountain of cow dung that flowed from Ryan’s mouth. Said fact checkers have already condemned...

The Democrats are losing it, literally. The Obama camp and its surrogates are losing the fight to control the narrative about Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) They are losing the effort to distract voters through the presence at the GOP convention of Obama campaign staffers such as Robert Gibbs and Ben LaBolt, who spend their time wandering about and whining to the media here in Tampa about the “negativity” of the other side. They are losing the ability to con the media into focusing on likability, as if perceptions of Romney and Ryan wouldn’t improve after this event....
