The right rallied on Labor Day to celebrate “National Empty Chair Day,” a show of solidarity with Clint Eastwood after his infamous address to an invisible President Barack Obama at the Republican National Convention last week.

The action picked up steam on Twitter, where the hashtag #emptychairday began trending on Monday morning as users tweeted pictures of empty chairs in various poses.

He signed a folding metal chair for our charity event’s silent auction a few years ago. It was pretty hilarious. I think it’s great he can laugh at himself enough to have signed it for us. I think it went for around $300.

Of course, this is in Murtha's old district, but I walked outside earlier and there was an SUV literally stopped in the street in front of our Empty Chair. At first he had a quizzical look, then he started visibly belly-laughing as he drove away.
