Mitt Romney revealed a new energy policy today that will hinge on states, and not the federal government, being able to control energy development on federal land, a shift that the campaign says will result in North American energy independence by the year 2020.
It includes more offshore drilling options, evoking memories of the slogan introduced four years ago at the Republican National Convention in 2008: Drill, baby, drill.
If Im the president of the United States in a few months here, I will set a national goal of America and North America, North American energy independence by 2020, Romney said. That means we produce all the energy we use in North America. And there are a number of things Im going to do to make that happen. It is achievable. This is not some pie-in-the-sky kind of thing.
To aid his speech, for the second time in a week Romney resorted to a prop to get his policy ideas across. It's called smaller government and "States Rights".
There’s a national goal I can get behind. Take the chains off and drill baby, drill.
Yep, and “Choke on it, OPEC, choke on it.”

I vote for Sarah Palin for Energy Secretary in the new administration!
I call BS. He is well known to flip flop. Notice how ever promise is “when I take office the first thing I do .....”. or “in the first few months I will.....”. Promise the world and deliver nothing. Just another politician but better than Obamy.
“I vote for Sarah Palin for Energy Secretary in the new administration!”
Combine the EPA with the Dep’t of Energy, appoint Palin to head it and watch her cut every piece of fat out of it.
Great idea!
Could we have the BLM scaled back? I hope so!
Can we place the EPA in its pre-Carter format? I hope so!
Does this mean we have a candidate that believes in the 10th Amendment, with strength? Sounds like it to me!
Is he serious? I don’t know. But better a candidate that we’re unsure about than a candidate that we agree with exactly 0% of the time, right?
