DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM SEEKS TO RID U.S. OF OIL
Human Events ^ | 9/5/201 | Audrey Hudson

Ridding the U.S. of oil-based energy and avoiding the catastrophic consequences of climate change are the primary goals of the Democratic Party platform released this week that labeled the planet’s temperature variations as a national security crisis.

“We must end the tyranny of oil in our time,” the platform said. “This immediate danger is eclipsed only by the longer-term threat from climate change, which will lead to devastating weather patterns, terrible storms, drought, conflict, and famine. That means people competing for food and water in the next fifty years in the very places that have known horrific violence in the last fifty: Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. That could also mean destructive storms on our shores, and the disappearance of our coastline,” the platform said.

The U.S. is no longer public enemy number one when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions — that distinction now goes to China. Other offending countries include the U.S., India, Russia and the European Union, the platform said.

Democrats want to conquer climate change through the creation of a “global energy forum,” which they would reach out to the offending nations to join in order to establish new climate protocols. “We need a global response to climate change that includes binding and enforceable commitments to reducing emissions, especially for those that pollute the most.”

“Without dramatic changes, rising sea levels will flood coastal regions around the world. Warmer temperatures and declining rainfall will reduce crop yields, increasing conflict, famine, disease, and poverty. By 2050, famine could displace more than 250 million people worldwide. That means increased instability in some of the most volatile parts of the world,” the platform said.

“Never again will we sit on the sidelines, or stand in the way of collective action to tackle this global challenge,” the platform said.

Breaking the country’s “addiction to foreign oil” calls for a “Manhattan or Apollo Project-level” commitment.

“We hear that call and we Democrats commit to fast-track investment of billions of dollars over the next ten years to establish a green energy sector that will create up to five million jobs,” the platform said.

“It will not be easy, but neither was getting to the moon,” the platform said.

I tried using watermelons instead of oil, but they’re soggy and don’t burn worth a dang.

We saw a bumpersticker that I wish I had.
It said “Don’t like us drilling for oil? Stop driving.”

Apparently hat’s what they mean by “reducing our dependency on oil”.
They also stop domestic production of oil, and increase our foreign oil imports.
And they then attack oil companies for price gouging when prices necessarily rise...

I don’t think so, not with this crowd.

Once a godless person (a leftist) reaches a certain level of wealth, it’s no longer about the money, it’s about controlling other people.

This is about control. They want the masses to be without energy. And they want there to be a bigger difference in lifestyle between them and us.

I'm sure they'll be every bit as effective at fixing that as the are about keeping Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

“Apparently this is not satire...dolts, all of them.”

I actually had to check.

Actually, the democrats HAVE done a GREAT job on reducing our oil use. Firstly, it’s very expensive, so people use less of it; secondly, with fewer industries, less oil and other forms of energy are consumed; and thirdly, with no jobs in those industries to go to, people drive less.

“It will not be easy, but neither was getting to the moon,” the platform said”

Getting to the moon entailed going forward, not backwards.

The Northeasters who lost electricity in a flood last year about died because they lost electric services for a few days. They were so outraged with the electric service company for taking so long!

If the Left’s globalist warmers are sucessful, their Northeast city voters won’t be able to cope. They will have to head out to France. :)

At least they recognize that. It wasn't long ago they wanted the US to sign CO2 reduction treaties that excluded China because it was a developing nation.

I have an idea. Since these folks have recognized that China is the world's biggest AGW threat, why don't they go there and publicly demonstrate? The answer, of course, is that when they weren't just laughed at, they'd be treated worse than the Falun Gong.
