Senator Dianne Feinstein says she'll reintroduce assault weapon legislation
KPCC ^ | Kitty Felde

Posted on 09/05/2012 5:10:01 PM PDT by Joseph Harrolds

Dianne Feinstein announced Wednesday that she’s re-entering the battle over gun control during her keynote speech to the California delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

Feinstein was president of the San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors on what she calls that city’s “day of infamy” in 1978, when a former colleague shot and killed Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. Since then, Senator Feinstein has been one of the most vocal proponents of gun control on Capitol Hill.

She promised California delegates she’d return to Congress to reintroduce “an updated assault weapons bill.”

At the delegates' breakfast, she said that, "Weapons of war do not belong on our streets, in our classrooms, in our schools or in our movie theatres."

Feinstein co-sponsored an assault weapons ban signed into law in 1994, which expired 10 years later.

Ammo ban is waiting to be signed, hi-cap ban is coming and firearms ban - not just phony ‘assault weapons’ - is also coming, if 0bummer gets another 4yrs. SHTF breaks loose on Nov 7 if he does. They’ll pull out all the ‘stops’ and come after us with both barrels.

They have plenty of proof...what are you saying? It never happened? We don't "know their motives"?

The fact that it happened, we know it happened, and there is a body count that is still climbing because it happened is a simple reality.

I'm a second amendment absolutist. I don't have the luxury of voting for candidate that share all my principles so I will vote for the one that is the least dangerous to the 2nd amendment. Any rational person knows that is Romney.

Obama is a danger to the Republic. Romney is danger too, just less of a danger. Like I said previously it's not a great choice to have to make, but it's not a hard choice either. I've heard all the "the lesser of two evils is still evil", "it can't get better until it breaks", "It's time for the GOPe to learn they can't just appoint a candidate" rhetoric and I'm sick of it. Our nation faces historic debt, historic usurpations of power by the executive branch, historic increases in government control of our economy, historic criminal activity by the executive branch, historic failure to persecute criminal activity by the justice dept. This isn't even an exhaustive list, but never before has anything like this administration ever happened. In comparison it makes FDR look like a dilettante flirting with socialism, it makes LBJ look like an under achiever, It makes Carter look intelligent and it makes Clinton look respectable. This administration has to be defeated at the next election or America as we know it is done. You want to sit it out and roast marshmallows as the world burns that is your prerogative, and it's even possible that I won't be able to say "I told you so" if Obama wins because when he takes over the internet, FR will probably be taken down as a hate site.

Nope. I don't want any poison, whether a lot or a little less.

Well then, if Obama wins and the country completely collapses, I will know who to thank.

So, go ahead, keep up your rigid ideology and risk 4 more years of the worst president in history.

Diame has always been anti-gun, and she got away with it until a female reporter saw a gun in Diane’s open purse.
Of course, she got away with it, by explaining it was for “personal protection”, because she is a public figure. I suppose if one is not a celebrity, but merely unlucky, one has no right to self protection : )

I remember her having it. It’s not something I think about a lot though. Glad you mentioned it.

It would have passed over his veto, anyway. Maybe he should he have expended political capital on a fight he couldn’t win - maybe it was better saved for other things.

Anything that is not a bolt action will be considered an assault weapon.
Yes, and bolt actions will be considered sniper rifles.

Great, that means I am really a target as I have both. What about my auto-loading shotgun? What about my single action revolver? I want full recognition as a ‘problem child’. Oh, add in former military service, too. Plus we fly the Gadsden flag during snake season here on the ranch.

Anyone know where I can get an AK47 “assault” rifle (Russian/Yugo/Serb - none of that Romanian crap) cheap?

Do they want to lose?

No, that's the last thing they want. Reid and Pelosi refused to touch this foolery in 2009 when they had supermajorities!

DiFi's motivation and reasoning are open questions.

Romney sides with DiFi on this. He would be more than happy to sign such legislation ... just like he did in Mass.

Maybe he would, but I bet he would not spend any capitol on pushing for it.

I want full recognition as a ‘problem child’.

Posting here on freerepublic automatically grants that status.

I figure you are on a lot of lists. Given how bureaucrats think, they will probably cross index the list, and those that are on the most list will be given highest priority service.

No, no, you’re OK with trivet. That’s the flat iron that sets on your wood stove to keep the teapot from over heating. If DiFi has her way we’ll all be armed with cold trivets. Except her, of course-—she’ll still be armed with her 38 in case we all start fling trivets at her?

I say bring it. They can attempt to make tens of millions of law abiding citizens felons but they will never get people to surrender their “Weapons of War”. Why then what implements would we use to control tyranny and its handmaidens?

I would counter with a proposal to remove the import restriction and age or time restriction for the sale / transfer of machine guns to private citizens.

Other libtards have called for banning bolt-actions, as being “too accurate!” They call them “Sniper rifles!”. LOL.
