The Great National Amnesia This Political Seasons (Both Dems and Reps)
Self-Vanity | 9/5/2012 | Self

The Great National Amnesia: Clinton had a Republican Congress and he is taking credit for its success, Bush had a Democrat Congress in his last 2 years and being blamed for its failure.

Listening to Bubba, he forgets the 1994 sea-change in Congress and the successful (seemingly) agenda of the Contract With America.

The 'blame Bush crowd forgets that Dems ran the table in his last 2 years that led in great measure to the financial crisis. Bush brought President-elect Obama on board, and Barry acts stupid and 'had no idea how bad it was'. LIAR!

Why isn't Romney-Ryan beating this concept like a drum?

that is a good question! Another question I live in the Tri-state area in Ky across from Cincinnati Ohio and I have seen very few Romney ads.

Excellent observation! Made the same point during the speech tonight--Clinton never would have done what he did had the Republicans not taken the Congress and forced the issue.

By the same token, Pelosi, Reid, and the Democrats prohibited and blocked Bush from taking care of the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac matter, as well as other actions which precipitated the fiscal disaster of 2008. The Romney/Ryan team must get on correcting these misperceptions immediately, capitalizing on Clinton's introduction of the subject.

Have you had a discussion with "the average voter" lately?

"Bush's fault" is easy.
"Bush was driven by a democrat congress & that's the way the system works" is NOT easy.

There are far smarter people than me to come up with a delivery system for this message making it understandable for the great unwashed.

Check out this article from - of all places - CNN...

http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/03/news/economy/jobs_october/index.htm

Check out the date - November 3, 2006...right before (or right after) the midterms in which the Republicans lost both houses of Congress - one of which is still out of their control...

Check out the unemployment rate - 4.4 percent...at a 5-year LOW...

According to reports, the unemployment rate is going to go up to either 8.6 or 8/7 percent on Friday...(”unexpectedly”, of course)...

Just reporting. What the hell about this regime warrants another four years?

I’ve been pondering this exact issue. I even drew up a calendar of who held Congress and who was President from Roosevelt on. Perhaps the best way to show this is with easily-understood charts. I agree: it must be done! And your post or at least the idea of it needs to be spread to all the conservative talk show hosts. Let’s keep this thread going so someone who might have a better idea of how to present the data can see there’s an interest in it and a real need for it.

This is one of the relative strengths of the parliamentary system, in that the majority legislative power or coalition of powers have responsibility for the executive. That and if their version of the president sucks they don’t have to wait four years.

Maybe you can research the data and chart it the best you can and post on FR, asking others to improve upon it with their special skills.

Why isn't Romney-Ryan beating this concept like a drum?

The Conservative's of the Republican Party would do well to think in terms of educating the public, rather than waiting for an election, and trying to do tantalizing sound bites for ads. All year ads on TV and in newspapers need to be written about the truth of American history, and politics. Right when a democrat does something shocking and un American, it needs to come out to the public when it is fresh. We need to get a hold of the narrative, instead of constantly being driven by theirs.

Democrats are rewriting history and deal in one lie after the next. The only real antidote to lies is the truth. The way the Republicans have been handling communication hasn't been working. We need to throw the old worn, outmoded mold out, and come up with an all new way of communicating to the public, that works.
