Heck, MOST of Marty Robbins songs were really good story narratives just matched to music.

Fatima, I know this is a bit of a vanity, but here's one I co-wrote with my buddy Ronnie Houser. Of course hardly anybody knows it.

"Cross the Green Mountain" by Bob Dylan
"Going Home" by Mary Fahl
Both from the "Gods and Generals" movie soundtrack......
Listen to them in the dark and let your imagination whisk you away to that place and time. Both are breathtaking and haunting and so appropriate to that movie.........

My theme song:
Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too
I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this
I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The shit has hit the fan
Send lawyers, guns and money...

Grace. One of the most beautiful songs ever.
Grace Evelyn Gifford Plunkett was an Irish artist and cartoonist who was active in the Irish Republican movement. She is remembered for marrying Joseph Plunkett in Kilmainham Jail only a few hours before he was executed for his part in the 1916 Easter Rising.
As we gather in the chapel here in old Kilmainham Jaill
I think about these past few weeks, oh will they say we've failed?
From our school days they have told us we must yearn for liberty
Yet all I want in this dark place is to have you here with me
Oh Grace just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger
They'll take me out at dawn and I will die
With all my love I place this wedding ring upon your finger
There won't be time to share our love for we must say goodbye
Now I know it's hard for you my love to ever understand
The love I shared for these brave men, the love for my dear land
But when Padrick called me to his side down in the GPO
I had to leave my own sick bed, to him I had to go
Oh, Grace just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger
They'll take me out at dawn and I will die
With all my love I'll place this wedding ring upon your finger
There won't be time to share our love for we must say goodbye
Now as the dawn is breaking, my heart is breaking too
On this May morn as I walk out, my thoughts will be of you
And I'll write some words upon the wall so everyone will know
I loved so much that I could see his blood upon the rose.
Oh, Grace just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger
They'll take me out at dawn and I will die
With all my love I'll place this wedding ring upon your finger
There won't be time to share our love for we must say goodbye
For we must say goodbye
