Rep. John Lewis predicts the return of segregation if Romney wins

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rep. John Lewis used his Thursday convention speech to argue that a GOP victory in November will send African-Americans back to the early 1960s, when he and other Africans-Americans were forcibly denied access to restaurants, public transportation and the ballot box.

“I’ve seen this before, I lived this before,” he claimed, after extensively describing his activism in Southern states in the 1950 and 1960s.

“We were met by an angry mob that beat us and left us lying in a pool of blood,” he said to raucous applause from roughly 20,000 delegates and activists.

“Brothers and sisters, do you want to go back?” he called, prompted a loud response of “No!”

“Or do you want to keep America moving forward?” he asked Sept. 6 to raucous applause from roughly 20,000 delegates and activists.

The Politics of Desperation

There’s a reason why Lewis’ constituents are at the bottom of the socio-economic barrel . . . they are duped by fools like this.

I hate to break it to Lewis, but those "angry mobs" were Democrats.

It was the Republicans that passed the first Civil Rights Act (of 1868, I think), and the Democrats that repealed it.

It was also the Republicans that passed the US Civil Rights Act of 1964, over Democrat objections.

State and local governments were majority Democrat during that period, because Democrats were still seething over the Reconstruction laws imposed by the Republicans.

Liberals like to pretend that these Democrats just joined the Republican party. It didn't happen in Texas -- they hung on to power as long as they could, and were finally replaced in the 1990's.

As that great REPUBLICAN George Wallace said.. “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever”!

Oh wait! He was not a REPUBLICAN! He was of the party that was for SLAVERY and the KKK, A DEMOCRAT!

Libs are skin colorholics. They can’t stop playing the skin color card anymore than a wino in the gutter can stop swilling booze.

Wasn’t Bush suppose to put Black Folks back on Plantations if he won in 2000 and 2004, much like Obama, Lewis is nothing, but a broken record!

Do they not know how ignorant and backward they appear? They sound like they stepped out of a 1930s movie.

The unbelievable part is that it works.

This may be a common meme in the leftist black community. My last job used to take me into situations where I was working around fair numbers of people, without actually interacting with them, and on at least 5 occasions, I heard black people state that "if the republicans/Bush/conservatives are elected, they'll reestablish slavery. There was one woman in particular who was crying the day after the results of the 2004 election came down, since her husband, a union shop steward, told her that Bush was going to "reinstate slavery," her words!

I REALLY wanted to slap some sense into those people, but interacting with them at all could have cost me my job. Though it was educational for me. Before that, I didn't realize that people in "the real world" could be so damned stupid and uneducated.

Duh, sounds like Re. Lewis is race-baiting?

BTW, if racial-profiling is against the law, then is race-baiting also against the law?

Sounds like Mr Lewis may have a touch of dementia or be in need of a little R&R in some clinic!

Believe me, all those democrats really believe this crap. They can’t think on their own. Liberals in every town in America will repeat what is said on TV that day. Remember “Selected, not elected”? Now they will start repeating the lies that the republicans want to enslave blacks. All this is planned. They know their base is made up of retarded sheep. Biden’s “chains” remark, Lewis’ crap and the rest.

Seriously--the Republicans need to do a very short dramatic ad showing the history of the Democrats in the South. I am certain that very few blacks under the age of 50 know that the Democrats were the party of Jim Crow and the KKK.

In fact, a lot of white kids under 50 don't know that.

Would sure stir up some good conversation, and might even get the Republican party some votes.

John Lewis lived in the turmoil of the segregated south, but doesn’t remember the democrats trying to keep him there. He could have been a special name in our history books but, he chose to be a barking dog running in the pack with Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Maxine Waters.
