Canada severed all diplomatic ties with Iran on Friday, citing a long list of grievances including Tehrans military assistant to the Syrian regime, rogue nuclear program and threats against Israel.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said in a statement that Canada had closed its embassy in Tehran and that all remaining Iranian diplomatic personnel in Canada had been declared personae non gratae.
Diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been suspended. All Canadian diplomatic staff have left Iran, and Iranian diplomats in Ottawa have been instructed to leave within five days, Minister Baird said.

Canada doesn’t want a repeat of 1979. If the Iranians get bombed, their government is going to unleash the mob on foreign embassies. it’s prudent to get the people out now.
You are completely right that the Iranian populace would NOT turn against the west. I posted tnis in a recent post where Alan at Anti-Mullah received Emails from inside Iran as far back as 2004 and 2006 asking the WEST to BOMB the Mullahs regardless of the collateral loss of life of civilians - as long as it took out the clerics.
Just as Odds says, opposition comments came from the clerics themselves or various Iranians with family and property which might get damaged.
Disinformation from the Mullahs and those at personal risk.
Harper has been very supportive of Israel - I believe he was given whatever information he needed.
I was just talking about this tonight at my daughter’s - I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of an attack in about a week.
Only way anybody’s going to hear about an attack on Iran is AFTER it occurs, JMHO.
Our Clown Posse in the WH and their buddies have blown so many of the IDF’s plans already that they’d be more likely to call Tehran and tell them directly before they’d drop a hint to ANYBODY in the US “gummint”.....
....and I’d call ‘em fools if they did anything different.
Canada, OTOH....well, they’re just taking normal precautions in dealing with a bunch of unstable lunatics in Tehran.
I just hope they don’t someday have to do the same with us....
“This is a very Topsy-turvy world in which we live where Canada has a set huevos and we lost ours in 2008.”
We lost them in 2001 when Bush II gave his Islam is a peaceful religion speech. Obozo just expanded on the idiocy.
What he should have done was ship ever damn Muslim out of America or interned them in detention camps pending extradition to the Islamic paradise of their choice - even the one with the 99 virgins if necessary.
Thank you so much for sharing your insights, dear FARS!

Thanks for the ping.
Wondering about the Canadian action taken today. What do they know that we don’t?
this is huge news
The plain truth is that Jews have always been on their own. The 1945-2008 friendliness of the United States to Jews is an historical oddity.
So ... you want President Romney to close the US Embassy in Tehran, and expel the Iranian diplomatic corps?
That would be ...
difficult.
shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
But at least it will not be Canadian bombs...
Ding...Ding...Ding...Ding...Ding...Ding...
Bingo...
The Iranians are already smelling the stench of death coming their way...
Obama and the rest of the third world are ensuring the winds of knowledge, to thier advantage, is blowing in Iran’s favor...
This is either going to happen very soon, or it is going to happen before Romney is potentially inaugerated...If Romney doesn’t succeed you can bet the strike will happen without any real warning from Israel...And without any support from its main supporter...
Smart. Get your people out of town before the Iranians start rounding up westerners as “human shields” against what’s coming their way...
Good work Canada!
