Michael Moore: No Obama Didn't Save Detroit
NewsBusters ^ | SEPTEMBER 7, 2012 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 09/07/2012 10:02:02 AM PDT by RobinMasters

For several years the left and their media minions have claimed that by bailing out Chrysler and General Motors, President Obama saved Detroit.

On Friday, the perilously liberal schlockumentarian Michael Moore debunked this in an article at the Huffington Post astonishingly saying, "No, he didn't."

"Last week, I said on the HuffPost Live webcast that we had all better start practicing how to say 'President Romney' because, living in Michigan, I can tell you that there's trouble here on the two peninsulas and it's not just because Romney is a native son or that we like to watch kids from Cranbrook chase down gay kids and chop their hair off," Moore wrote. "One recent poll here showed Romney leading Obama by four points! How can that be? Didn't Obama save Detroit?"

Moore answered his own question, "No, he didn't. He saved General Motors and Chrysler."

"'Detroit' (and Flint and Pontiac and Saginaw)," continued Moore, "are not defined by the global corporations who suck our towns dry and then split town to make more money elsewhere (except, of course, they continued to design and built crap cars, so eventually they didn't make the money at all). These cities in Michigan are about the people who live here, and in the process of 'saving Detroit,' Mr. Obama had to fire thousands of these people, and reduce the benefits and pensions of those who were left."

I’ve said on other threads that there are very few demographics that initially supported Obama that are really better off now. Government workers (especially public school teachers) fortunate enough to survive the waves of layoffs are one; can’t think of any others right now.

Manufacturers of guns and ammo.

Also a good friend of mine who provides services to banks to help them stay in compliance with CRA and HMDA is doing well.

The very day (Tuesday September 4, 2012 to be exact) Ted Strickland gave his speech that Romney, as Santa, would outsource the elves, GM announced it would be ‘investing’ $500M in a new plant....in MEXICO!

I was thinking when I read this Header you should have included the words ---"This is NOT a Vanity Post"

So I read on, and noted that Comrade Moore's statement seems to Jive with the one Clint Eastwood has been making about the lefties being worried about the economy too.

Who would have known????

I was speaking specifically about initial supporters of Obama; I’m sure that industry knew he has no use for armed citizens.

As far as other demographics that are doing well in general, I’m sure anyone manufacturing/selling things to fix something (to avoid replacing it) are doing well: hardware stores, the makers of “Shoe-Goo” and such. Look at what sells well in the Third World - those will be our hot commodities soon.

RE :”Moore answered his own question, “No, he didn't. He saved General Motors and Chrysler.”
“’Detroit’ (and Flint and Pontiac and Saginaw),” continued Moore, “are not defined by the global corporations who suck our towns dry and then split town to make more money elsewhere (except, of course, they continued to design and built crap cars, so eventually they didn't make the money at all). These cities in Michigan are about the people who live here, and in the process of ‘saving Detroit,’ Mr. Obama had to fire thousands of these people, and reduce the benefits and pensions of those who were left.

Moore better watch it. More talk like this and he will be cast aside like Cindy Sheenan was after she challenged Pelosi. Security at MSNBC was given a picture of Sheenan so they could stop her if she tried to get in again with her pass.

For some strange reason, the left is suddenly ignoring Moore.

Only in America would you reelect people who think we walked on Mars, that Guam would tip over if we put more troops on the island, and we have more than 57 states, to name just a few and lets not forget that Obama can’t pronounce corpsman. I thought he was supposed to be so intelligent.

While his thinking doesn't influence us, it sure does influence 18-30yo democrats. Not to give him too much credit, but I think his efforts through the Bush years had an impact on their voting in 2008. If he is sending any sort of signal that is anti-Obama, and not out campaigning heavy for him like he did in 2008, this is great news.

yep.. Michael Moore is to the left of the President. He doesn’t like any large corporation, except for his of course... I would imagine he has incorporated and has employees...

oh yeah... I forgot, it’s ok if HE makes money.

The real question is: "Who are they talking about and what have they done with Michael Moore?"

Michael Moore is a fat extreme left wing propaganda producer. He's produced propaganda claiming healthcare is better in Cuba than in America and various other ridiculous claims.

For him to be bashing Obama, doesn't bode well for the One.

0blahblah didn't do much for Chicago either...

Obama's "community organizing" left Chicago neighborhoods in ruins.

(long very detailed article in the liberal Boston Globe)

Grim proving ground for Obama's housing policy

"About 99 of the units are vacant, many rendered uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage. Mice scamper through the halls. Battered mailboxes hang open. Sewage backs up into kitchen sinks. In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale - a score so bad the buildings now face demolition."

City of Detroit (90% black) is continuously being ‘saved’ by government stealing from taxpaying white Americans to dole out to parasites.
