Well, there is no way to prove one way or another if FR would have been anti-Reagan back before there was an Internet much less a FR.

I have been a Freeper for 12 years and I voted for The Gipper TWICE -four times if you count the primaries and unless most on this forum are new conservatives I suspect the vast majority of us (who are old enough) did the same...

I submit this assumption has more standing than yours.

“Really guys what kind of campaign did you think Romney was going to run?
Did you think righteous indignation?
Hitting obama where it hurt?
Did you really expect him to be a tough guy?
Romney is milk toast unless he is running against a conservative.”

A bounce from the DNC convention, and guess what? Romney is a horrible candidate because he did stop that from happening!

Funny how before Romney was running a great campaign. Now it OMG!!! PANIC PANIC PANIC ROMNEY SUCKS!!!

There are inflection points from which winning candidates leap ahead for good. In 2004 it was the swift boat veterans who did in Kerry in August 2004. In 2008 it was Lehman collapse for obama In 1992, it was Clinton’s successful DNC. The question is was the most leftwing in your face liberal DNC convention an inflection point? If it was, it says something horrible about America and Americans.

Very well stated... The entire post. My point above yours is similar. Obama ran not only an in your face leftwing convention but a challenger one as well (attack opponent, not defend your record). And the media spun and cheered. They slapped flags on far left policies, i.e. it's patriotic to pay higher taxes, it's patriotic to have abortions, etc.

And you are correct. If Obama win, it is all over. And this is not hyperbole. Everything you mentioned (with the aid of the media) will become true. Obamacare will become the conservative position, and single payer will become the left's platform.

That is why it is troubling to see this bounce, amidst this train wreck. We can't be blind in our allegiance (and blow off every poll even Rasmussen) if we think Romney is running an ineffective campaign.

What are you smoking? Romney could take a nap with the alarm set to Nov 1st right now and win this thing. I appreciate caution, but it is ridiculous to think Obama has a snowball's chance in Hades to win. More likely to get landsliden!

However, if Obama somehow pulls this thing off, kiss your republic goodbye!

If Romney wrote this op-ed in the nytimes today, what do you think freepers would do to him:

http://www.nytimes.com/1991/03/29/opinion/why-i-m-for-the-brady-bill.html

But back to the OP. This poll is nothing more than a bounce, it will fade. So long as Romney does well in the debates, the economy will win it for the r/R ticket.

I think you are right. And it occurs to me watching people I know that they regard government as their friend, They have all kinds of benefits from questionable disability to medicaid to AFDC to free largesses, have lives with music, tv, going out and are free from the workaday grind. They have no interest or stake in getting ahead. The women get pedicures, watch tv, do not read, have kids getting into college with no fees. They are not like us. And I think they simply dont live in the same universe. They are like peasants or serfs without the work and grind.

I hear you. This election is vital. We cannot allow Obama to win or else you’re right on about what will happen the next four years.

:(

Does Rasmussen or any other pollster have the race shown by the dozen or less states that ultimatley will determine the winner? National polls don’t necessarily reflect swing state results as the hard blue and red states will vote their way regardless of national polls.

He’s getting a bounce - bigger than we hoped - but a bounce. We’ll absorb the impact, regroup, and take it from there. Romney’s ad campaign is just beginning.

If you look at all of the alternatives for a R candidate Romney is the worse of the lot. His loss is a fair certainty. He is the only candidate completely incapable of winning against O. Once again the R party has committed suicide by stupidity.

I missed that.

The markets should be tanking now if investors believe that zero is going to win. We will have guaranteed tax hikes, 0-care, energy shortages, and more money printing which will produce one heck of recession in 2013.
Why no panic in the markets? Are investors really that confident that zero will be gone or are they stupid?

Reagan was down by 4 Points in September

Been 32 years since Reagan ran forget those results

WE have a whole new generation of brainwashed boobs led along by Hollywood ,TV and the MSM
They haven't the faintest idea of reality

Look at Clinton-Gore-Kerry-Obama
In a nation with any sense they shouldn't have even been close to the presidency

"They have no interest or stake in getting ahead."

You are absolutely correct. Most of the people I work with just live day to day. They have no time horizon and care little about improving their quality of life. As long as they have their cable tv and smart phones, they are happy. Most are not worried about saving extra for retirement, cuz they know it's covered by us.
