Romney Struggles to Gain Traction in Battlegrounds
Wall Street Journal ^ | Sept 9, 2012 | Sara Murray

With two months to Election Day, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney faces the disconcerting reality that he isn't winning most of the states he would need to beat President Barack Obama.

Mr. Obama is leading Mr. Romney by small margins in seven of the eight battleground states, all but North Carolina, according to averages of public polls compiled by RealClearPolitics. All are within the margins of error.

"Our problem in our country is not that we're not paying enough taxes," Mr. Romney said. "It's that we're spending too much money and the economy is not growing as it could and should."

"It's still a very difficult economic environment, and there's plenty of time for Romney to rally," said Mark McKinnon, a former political adviser to President George W. Bush. "Sixty days is like sixty years in political time."

I recall similar stories during each of Bush’s elections about how he was struggling...old insiders calling on him to get a different campaign staff, etc.

the MSM is creating a meme.

it is based on the false assumption that conventions actually matter.

There is only ONE, and only ONE, thing that will be remembered in the 2012 conventions. It is an EMPTY CHAIR.

look at the yahoo/ap news of obama being lifted up by that homosexual man. They are pushing people happy to see obama.

The biker picture of the bikers giving curious looks at biden speak better.

People keep mentioning swing states. Here are the latest average of polls in all 11 “swing states” as recorded in RCP. Keep in mind that almost all these state polls are taken 2d and 3rd week of August, pre-September, almost all taken in the period when Romney surged by three points after choosing Ryan. Most state polls waited until after the Dem convention to update so we will see a slew of polls from the swing states over the next 7-10 days, which will show either Romney tightening the gap and taking over the lead within MOE in some states. Or they might show that Obama is returning to his early-August leads. Who knows?

9/9 swing states
• New Hampshire (4 electoral votes) +3.5 average for Obama, last poll in August +6 Obama... 2008 Obama +9.6
• Wisconsin (10) +1.4 Obama, Ryan selection brought it up to a Romney advantage but last two polls back to • Obama lead... 2008 Obama +13.9
• Colorado (9) Obama +3.4... 2008 Obama +9.0
• Florida (29) Obama +1.7... 2008 Obama +2.8
• Iowa (6) Obama +.02... 2008 Obama +9.5
• Michigan (16) Obama +4.0, polls average Obama +3-7 with one tie... 2008 Obama +16.4
• Nevada (6) Obama +3.3... 2008 Obama +12.5
• Ohio (18) Obama +2.2... 2008 Obama +4.6
• Virginia (13) Obama +0.6... 2008 Obama +6.3
• North Carolina (15) Romney +2.0... 2008 Obama +0.3

Some people keep mentioning that Maine could give one electoral vote to Romney since it is a state splits EV. High doubtful
• Maine +15.4 Obama... 2008 Obama +17.3, not in play by any definition

“Please stop lying. They did not say that. That has been debunked.”

This weekend has featured so many of these trolls! If they aren’t being paid by the Dems then they are the most pathetic so-called conservatives ever.

We are not Romney haters as much as Romney doubters.

Leave it to Rove and the GOP-E to decide that it is better to have a safe RINO run than a core constitutional conservative.

You cannot defeat socialism with moderation. This campaign best take their gloves off...and soon. If you back a rat into a corner, they will strike! Set the trap.

“If the anti Romney types had a plausible plan....but they’re all over the place. They just don’t like Romney, but they also didn’t like the other candidates in the primary.”

My “plan” would have been to nominate a true conservative who would provide a sharp contrast with the leftist president ...and then destroy Obama with an aggressive campaign designed to reveal who and what he is.

If some of the polls are as “good” as ppp than Mitt is golden. Sample question from the Ohio poll, who is more responsible for Bin ladens death Barry or Mitt. Well gee since Mitt isnt in office what do you think? Why ask it if not to help the dummy

Romney is the candidate.

What’s your plan now?

By the way, which true conservative did you support during the primary, and how much effort did you put into the nomination of that true conservative?

Unless Obummer has a 7 to 10 point lead on Romeny in October, he will lose the election. If the polls stay the way they are and the economy is still in the thank, aint too many people, other than braindead democrat lemmings, going in that booth and voting for Obummer. Aint gonna happen.

"It's not a good paper. Its editorial staff may be right of centre but the reporters are journ0list."

Don't forget who owns the WSJ. The largest public stockholder of News Corp, which owns the WSJ and Fox News is Whalid bin-Talal, who offered Giuliani $10 million after 9/11. According NY Assemblyman, former Malcolm X attorney, and a hero pilot in the black company of the Army Air Corp, Percy Sutton, Bin-Talal was the patron who funded Barry's Columbia and Harvard stays. Percy's old friend, Khalid al-Mansour, whose “slave name” was Don Warden, a founder of the Black Panthers whose speeches mirror Rev. Wrights, though more virulent (Wright does not emphasize the need for black men to kill white women and their babies). Khalid/Warden become a legal representative for bin-Talal shortly after leaving UC’s Boalt Hall law school. Warden/Mansour says he met Barry in 1980 when Barry was at Occidental. Manour was a familiar recuruiter in US prisons for Wahabi Islam.

About the time Barry entered Harvard, bin-Talal donated 20 million dollars to their general fund, which donation is part of the public record. When Barry was being groomed by financial cronies, including Soros and Buffet, bin-Talal spent tens of millions to create a new division, the Whalid bin_Talal Center for Islamic Studies at Harvard, easily the most lavishly funded division at Harvard's divinity school. It isn't subtle!

There is no need to hide the activities since the left owns the media which sees, hears, nor speaks about evil. Bin-Talal opened similar centers at Cambridge, Georgetown, American University, and four or five other major Universities. The media are the useful idiots, and the WSJ is, unfortunately, among the more insidious propaganda tools because most expect it to be independent, a document about free trade. It is about trade, but has been bought with American productivity spent buying petroleum we could produce, if Saudi=funded agent-activists hadn't used our government to stifle our ability to produce for ourselves.

“This election cycle is the most frustrating of my lifetime. Obama is the most destructive force in our history and you have leftists, ABRs, holier than thous , marxists, communists, all ready to continue this destruction for four more years.”

Think it’s “frustrating” today?

Wait 15 years...

You’ll be a-wishin’ for the good ol’ days of 2012!

In several states there are extra candidates from other political parties on the ballot...

syphering off votes ..

here in Tennesse we always have several...

Its not just Willard and Obama...

For either to win he will HAVE TO get a good amount..

Perot got 19% in 1992

Clinton got 43% and Bush got 38%..

The 45% or so that Obama has are all his...

The extra candidates will be mostly Republican types so the votes will come off Willards...

and believe me oif there was ever a year for a lot of extra candidates this will be it...

Johnson has several points in at least one state...

Virgil Goode has been busy...

and there are others...

the ones who will stay home this time will be Republicans...

The older Democrat who cannot be convinced to vote for Obama but wont vote for Willard have been replace3d by a new crop of voters 18-22 the ones who were too young to vote last time...

Plus more illegal aliens will be voting...

More than a million that Obama just made “honorary Americans” plus a few more..

While Obama still has a base that will get behind him for whatever reason, Willard has to “struggle” for each vote...he has no base in opposition to Obamas...

Someone said he has “huge crowds” but i dont think Willard on his own gets crowds as HUGE as Sarah’s were...

I donty think votewrs as a whole care wheter Obamas crowds are as big as Willards...

There may be several reasons behind that...

Willards crowds have the money to travel long distances to be there...

Obamas supporters have already seen him in 2008 and they are waiting at home to vote in Nov...

I got to be part of the McCain campaign and met him in 2008...

If he had won and was running for reelection, I dont think i would travel to Nashville again to be there and spend the money and time...

Id watch it all online this time...

Only the Republicans seem to be swayed by crowd numbers and war chests this time...

If it was that important there would be 20 pointsa between them with Willard killing Obama...

I dont know who will win in Nov...

The US loses either way..
