CBS "News" 60 Minutes interview with SEAL TEAM 6 member who shot Osama.
Where liberty dwells, there is my country." Benjamin Franklin
BUMP
Still, I will always give major kudos to the grunts. I love every Marine and Army grunt. However, my biggest fear is that we lose so many sailors once Iran retaliates against Israel when they let loose their power. It's coming.
BTTT
You NOW women are not only fools, but have declared yourselves irrelevent through your inaction.
Where are you? What? Listening to Jewel or watching some dumb ass TLC program or bitching about American men? Got Jershy Shore going on? You NOW cowards never ever say a word about Ismamist atrocities against women. You are all cowards! Us men and strong women of the military are fighting agaist it. You sit on your asses and say nothing. Pfft.
My screen goes blank after each introductory remark.
Anybody else have this problem?
Seemed strange to me.... how would the demo guy not know the first chopper went down when they changed their plan? Everyone knows you destroy the top secret aircraft and the guy started to wire the house? That part seemed very strange to me.
It was still very interesting.
I read the book cover to cover yesterday (downloaded it). I am in awe of our men and women in uniform and these ones in particular. Along with the dedication of the Intelligence officers. Some of the points he made with regard to the mission struck familiar chords...especially the ‘good idea fairy’ and the legal questions asked at the last minute.
Yesterday, I took my morning walk with my dog..it was a crystal clear morning with a chill in the air. And all I could think of was the attacks...I shed tears and prayers for all those lost that day and since..and spent the rest of the day glued to the book. Riveting.
I wont watch 1 minute commercials....I will wait for a youtube version.
Not unusual for the EOD guy to get confused. His original mission was to crater the compound in case the Paki’s showed up and/or there was too much resistance to overcome in the time they had.
EOD was also needed to find any booby traps in the house, so that’s his focus.
The assault teams are compartmentalized regarding mission.
Which brings me to the main point. I saw the entire 60 Minutes interview. There are several problems with Bissonnette’s story.
He claims to be the team leader taking down the S compound with UBL’s guards and then securing the yard and main building perimeter, which seems to be authentic. Side note: Why were they using a sledge hammer to take down doors? We have much better entry tools.
How then does Bissonnette become the #2 assaulter on the 3rd floor entry? On a different team? That would not happen. SEALs or any other spec ops don’t choose up sides in the middle of a raid.
Bissonnette describes his assignment was as a door kicker. That is much different than a room clearing assaulter. Which he may be fine at but raids are highly specialized to assignment.
The point man on the house clearing team would have only had a wingman that he trained with only, unless that wingman was degraded for some reason.
I’ll talk about the TRAP force and other problems later.
Bissonnette was there but unlikely his role was as described.
Kill ops are illegal, but then so is invading a foreign country.
DOD’s version was that UBL was shot by assaulters after they entered the room and Bissonnette’s version is quite different and has problems.
Bissonnette claims the point man gathered both women up in his arms and pinned them to the far wall while Bissonnette and another assaulter “double-tapped” UBL. How them did UBL’s wife get shot in the right calf? And end up on the bed clutching that right calf as Bissonnette says? Bissonnette describes her doing so but without knowing she was shot?
UBL’s head wound was instantly lethal, he was dead standing up. How did UBL, if he was shot in the doorway, get about 4 meters to the foot of the bed?
Bissonnette is fully detailed about his actions but gets very fuzzy about the events on the third floor.
Thanks gandalftb.
