Is Arab Spring turning against US?

The killings of the US ambassador to Libya and three other American diplomats in an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi Tuesday underscore how anti-authoritarian revolutions across the Arab world have unleashed extremist Islamist forces violently opposed to America and its ideals.

“The big question for the United States, and it’s only been made more urgent by these events, is how to adjust to a world where [moderate Muslim] governments have paved the way for more extremist elements to wield their influence,” says Patrick Clawson, director of research at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in Washington. “It’s not a good dynamic, but it’s not going away and has to be addressed.”

The American ambassador, Chris Stevens, was killed in the same city of eastern Libya where he had set up shop as the US envoy to the Libyan rebels as they fought to oust America’s longtime nemesis, strongman Muammar Qaddafi. Ambassador Stevens and the three other Americans were killed when a mob infuriated by an anti-Islam video made in the US stormed the Benghazi mission and burned it to the ground.

Well stated. I, too, believe that he will "attempt to hang on to power at any cost.".

Maybe that's why they're cooking the poll numbers...so they can later say that the polls were "right", all along. Sickening. Sickening that we even have to be worrying about this.

There is another similarity between Jimmy Carter pulling the rug out from under the Shah and Obama and NATO doing the same to Mubarak.

Both the Shah and Mubarak, it turned out were too ill to fend off the attacks against them.

This also goes back to the Neo-Con idiots around Bush who wanted “to give” democracy to the Middle East. They don’t want democracy....they want their demented God and to kill & slaughter the West. We need to drill our own oil and build nuke plants by the dozen so we don’t need anythng from these people.

It’s ALWAYS been against us.

The one bright spot in this (for freepers) is that we can each claim to have been smarter than the smartest woman in the world, who is SHOCKED that people we have “liberated” are so unappreciative.

I don’t know many conservatives that weren’t SCREAMING at their TVs during the “wonderful” Arab Spring on how it was a disaster for us. Sean Hannity last night was telling every lib he had, why didn’t you listen to us?

Unfortunately, when such a disastrous mess has been made (look how we have never recovered from the disaster Carter made of Iran) saying “I told you so” gives so little comfort....

When do we get to debate whether or not the Libyan ambassador was a commie traitor in the state department who encouraged and cheered for the Arab Spring? Maybe he rode the tiger, and the tiger ate him.

Whoops. Sorry for being politically incorrect and not joining the 30 IQ FR mob who want to bomb Tripoli residents who had nothing to do with this farce.
