ALL phone calls that originate in the US can be traced prety much immediately; cel or landline.

If it was phoned in, ‘they’ know when/where and hopefully soon who.

Landline calls can be pegged down to which pair of wires the phone was connected to (the drop). And no, “we” don’t have to keep you on the line any more. “we” know immediately when a valid line goes off hook and submits a 7 or 10 digit dial stream the network can resolve and terminate. There is no escape. ;-) Prisoner 6 is doomed.

A cell phone call starts with authenticating with the tower and the carrier network. “we” know your location and your IMEI (like a MAC address). “We” know what time, location you started, and how you moved during the call. Depending on radio information, we might even know what compass direction you were at in relation to the tower ( 120 degrees per radio ). If your GPS is on. The location is more discrete.

“we” control the vertical. “we” control the horizontal.

Update 10:45: Hyde Park Baptist Schools officials sent following notice to parents:

Hyde Park Baptist Schools are currently in lock down, until further notice. All students and staff are in proper places and safe. An email will be sent when the lock down is lifted.

Hyde Park officials would not say why the campuses had been closed off.

Update 10:35: Capital Metro posted a notice on Twitter that said: “UT shuttle service will resume as soon as a safe staging point is identified.”

Clusters of staff and students are standing in light rain outside the parking lot of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs in northeast campus.

John Wheat, a translator and archivist at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, said he was sitting in the center’s break room when sirens went off outside and co-workers told him to evacuate.

He said that his director sent everyone home, saying they won’t be able to go back in for a while.

Update 10:25: University of Texas officials just sent a post on Twitter that said, “Buildings being checked/cleared. Stay away from buildings. No decision on afternoon classes/activities. Next update at 10:45am.”

Among those who were instructed to evacuate immediately were a few hundred people attending a mental health symposium at UT’s AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center.

“Somebody came by and said they got a text on their phone that we’re all supposed to get out,” said Sven Kindem, a peer specialist and patient aide who was waiting a half block away from the center. He had taken shelter from the rain under a nearby building overhang.

Traffic all around the campus is very heavy, but pedestrians are walking around calmly, including a number walking past campus buildings.

Update, 10:22 a.m.: North Dakota State University has also received bomb threats this morning, according to news reports.

ValleyNewsLive.com reports that an emergency alert there urged students and staff to leave campus by 10:15 am.

UPDATE, 10 a.m.: UT officials said in a statement:

At 8:35 a.m. the university received a call from a male with a middle eastern accent claiming to have placed bombs all over campus. He said he was with Al Qaeda and these bombs would go off in 90 minutes. President Powers was notified and it was decided to evacuate all of the buildings out of an abundance of caution.

EARLIER: The University of Texas emergency alert system posted the following notice:

Evacuation due to threats on campus. Immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible. More information to come.

A UT official told the American-Statesman that the university had received multiple bomb threats to multiple buildings.

KLBJ saying I35 completely at a standstill ... Austin is a mess

It worries me that this may have been the plan all along. Create a distraction to tie up traffic so first responders can't get to the actual planned event. Maximize casualties - that would be more AQ's style.

The IRA trained alongside muslims, and they also shared their expertise with ME terrorists. There’s not really a dime’s worth of difference between them if you are the target.

Agreement, yet there have been so many ruses recently along with fog, the mental midgets may be playing some cards or a game to test us. Don’t know. Prayers for it to be a game, and not real.

Not unless they have something planned for somewhere else and are creating chaos and forcing the use of the local LEOs and emergency assts to UT while maybe somethin

Or placing the bombs on the primary evacuation routes?

This is South Carolina. Our local muzzie population is vewy vewy quiet. After all, the majority here consists of beer swilling BBQ loving rednecks with guns in their pickup trucks asking what would Jesus do.

That’s what we want people to think, anyway.

;^)

From your post, I guess Don Pryor is a Jimmy Carter type.

He is so scared of guns, he doesn't want one in his sight - ever.

They have a news conference on now, and the spokesman for UT uses “uh” more than 0 bummer. He is an embarrassment to be on the radio. Does not have a Texas accent.
