They should have done this back during Vietnam, instead of testing the unimproved and unreliable M-16A1 on our troops.
M-14 is and always was a much better weapon.

I couldn’t agree more.
I found one hidden away in the company supply room when I was with the 4th Infantry in 1970. Carried that thing all over II Corp and never had more confidence in a weapon.
Took it with me to the 1st Cav in 1970 and carried it all over the AO there. It really came into its own down south what with more open terrain.
9 mags was a load but small price to pay.

So they want to go to war with a .30 cal vs. a .22. Who wouldn’t?

“their new M14 Enhanced Battle Rifles as they trained for Personnel Security Detachment duty “
But will they let them have bullets?

That’s the one I want, baby! It doesn’t have to have all the fancy stuff, that little bit of rail is all I need.

When I was with 3-12 Cav in Germany in the 1980s each of our platoons had a pair of M-14s (improved from 1960s issue) as sniper rifles. Several soldiers in each platoon when to a special course for their use and sniper training.

Tactically, I might not advertise this.

The old M-14 is still one of the best guns I have ever shot. I can hit the target extremely well with this gun.

That’s a beautiful rifle right there...is it usable for left-handed firers?
