Romney posted on Facebook that prayers go out to the family of the people who died in the plane crash. Don’t know what its about.
I wonder if Nancy Pelosi knows what happened. She declared Obama victor of this election already - she seems to have special knowledge... /s

Ann and I were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic plane crash in Pueblo, Colorado. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the victim of this terrible accident. We keep them in our prayers.
What’s with this trend of canceling events due to other incidents? Political correctness run amok. This shows weakness, not strength. So much for ‘the show must go on’.

didn’t see much on the news site. crashed at 0830. could be the airport was closed to investigate and that would have mucked up the travel plans and timeline for today.
Pueblo is a Dem stronghold, one of three or four in CO.
Wasn’t the event actually at or near the airport? Runway closures from the crash PLUS a presidential candidate’s security crew needs and the crush of (hostile!) press and media probably dictated this decision.

That’s a female’s perspective. Unfortunately, the female perspective guides today’s political decisions. You can have compassion AND hold an event. The notion that a political rally AND a plane crash are somehow linked is ludicrous. They’re not. You start the rally with a prayer for the victims and be done with it! This was an ACCIDENT not a terror attack on America. Sheesh!

It looks like Romney didn't want the airport to have to devote the vehicles to the Romney plane when they're smack in the middle of an emergency.

Yahoo has a “news story” and of course it’s Romney bashing time on the comments. I got sickened by them. Some wishing Romney was on the plane or it was his plane that crashed. (blah, blah, blah, same racist, bigoted comments that many Obots use)
The event was scheduled at an aircraft museum just a couple of blocks from the airport.
You should considerer that the police will be tied up and that would put a strain on the resources of the area.... Besides the local media will be tired up also with the crash news and the rally wouldn’t have gotten much coverage anyways, so they aren’t losing much campaign face time really....
No matter what Romney does, he’s screwed by the MSM...if he makes a comment, they destroy him and if doesn’t make a comment they screw him twice. What in the hell can be done to overcome this? There is no help from the Republicans..Brit Hume (I think he’s an overblown idiot) couldn’t bring himself to totally support Romney in his comment after the embassy attack. I am so sick of this!!!

There was a partial closure of the airport. It’s not unusual during a crash investigation.

An experimental, home-built airplane crashed as it was attempting to land at Pueblo Memorial Airport around 9 a.m. Sunday, according to Mark Lovin, airport director.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the wreckage. “We don’t know when we will be able to reopen our runways,” Lovin said.
One 4,000 foot long runway remains in operation but it is too small to accommodate the McDonnell Douglas MD-80, commercial jet carrying Romney, Lovin said.
Three children were killed in this crash and that is what makes it different.

Can’t have a large event and an investigation going on at same time. I have been to a Romney/Ryan event and their is so much security and organization involved that it would be chaos to do. Besides, in this respect the show should not go on. Get a grip George.
You’re kidding me? a one man plane crash is all it takes to stop a campaign from campaigning... don’t you just say during your campaign event that you were notified of a plane crash and to please ask the audience to pray for the family involved? Things like this happen every day all day long... they’d better get on top of their campaigning, because Obummer is winning this thing as we read...
I too wonder if the airport is not closed per se that Romney not coming will allow investigators to get on with their jobs more easily.

Pueblo isn’t exactly surrounded by runways that can handle an aircraft that large.

Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer identified the man killed in a plane crash this morning as George V. McHenry, Jr., 68, of Pueblo.
I’m not sure this reporter has his terms exactly right here.
Building your own aircraft may translate to experimental to this reporter.
I’m relatively sure the owner of the aircraft wouldn’t have taken kids on board something he didn’t think was safe.
We’ll have to see what the facts are as this sifts out.
