re: the gov’t already has an EO signed and ready that would, should a national emergency situation happen, those who have stored food would be labeled ‘hoarders’ - thereby “criminals” an subject to arrest as they took your supplies - for the good of all...so all could starve equally.

Here it is straight from the ass..., horse’s mouth. Lots of stuff to wade through. Some prepper site was making notice that most times these types of EO talk about war, but that this one can be used in peace time. But didn’t dig that far into it yet.

After a quick review of the EO - seems like standard bureaucratic crap to keep folks busy. Lots of stuff in there to “study”, “evaluate” etc. Although in Sec. 201 there was this:

“Upon such approval, the Secretary of the resource department that made the finding may use the authority of section 101(a) of the Act, 50 U.S.C. App. 2071(a), to control the general distribution of any material (including applicable services) in the civilian market.”

I suppose that could be viewed in fairly broad terms. Of course, no different than the rationing of stuff during WWII.

That is probably constitutional in the warped view of the far left. The thoroughly bizarre Wickard v. Filburn decision that growing wheat for personal use is "interstate commerce" and thus subject to federal regulation set the precedent. We are facing pure evil, and the socialists will use any excuse they can manufacture to take power over individuals who resist the dependency they need to impose as a means of control.

I know a group, intelligent people, who have been developing a small group of locals - in the country - for the past several years - long before we had a pres. O'bumbles - now have good gardens established, wells for water, wood stoves, etc, should the power go out. They'll be able to live as our great grandparents did before electricity.

I do not live in as good an area. I am surrounded, not by dense housing but by homes with a few acres each. Unfortunately, more than half of those homes contain people who love Obama and socialism, extreme leftists who oppose the Second Amendment and individual freedom. If society collapses, I will be very nervous for several months. Hopefully I'll have some luck in concealing my degree of preparedness from all neighbors in the first few months and in converting those neighbors smart enough to survive the initial collapse.

Still, I don't want to live as our grandparents did before electricity, at least not for long. One important part of my preparation is paper reference books. I believe I could reconstruct most of modern medicine, math, science, and engineering from my small library. I also think that is important. I want Western culture to be the first to rise again if there is a global catastrophe, and scientific knowledge will be among the determinants of who wins that race. Those books, however, are in a sealed box. The references that are ready to use are field guides to local plants, both edible and medicinal, copies of applicable sections from Kart's prep manual to keep and to hand out, and other references that will help in learning or remembering key details under pressure.

Churches that have a bit of land available to them should be building raised beds to help provide fresh produce in exchange for a bit of labor...we waste an incredible amount of heirloom vegetable seed in this country annually...G-d has provided, and we have ignored it...

What kind of contamination, and at what sort of shelf-life? I’d thought one could easily get 3 - 4 yrs out of plastic water jugs before rotating them out. And even then, just aerating the water before drinking would remove the funny plastic taste.

As far as I am aware and I’ve been add this for a bit as long as you container is food grade you should be just fine. Especially if you rotate your water. The problems with many of the off the self containers you buy water in is mainly that they are weak and won’t hold up over time without leaking.

All the entitlement groups will soon be searching for hoarders, food stocks, clean water, toiletry supplies.

Best to start pulling back and disguising any prepping now if a person hasn’t done so already.

While its a good thing to help the needy the “needy” will be a clamoring frustrated mob. Especially the 47% of Americans that are dependent upon Obamas give away pogroms.
