...For the first time, school lunches must have age-aligned calorie maximums, capping the amount of calories high school students eat to around 850 calories. The new restrictions all come from the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and are funded by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 – legislation promoted by Michelle Obama.

While the changes may seem like a step in a healthier direction, not all students are finding them so tasty. On Monday, about 70 percent of the 830 students at Mukwonago High School in Wisconsin who typically buy their lunch boycotted the school’s cafeteria ...

Hey — supply and demand. You serve these kids crap for lunch, they will bring their own lunch.

Nice to see that even children are beginning to notice how Michelle 0bama’s police state, nanny state controls of food runs counter to freedom of choice under our Constitution.

That route has already been met with confiscation by a teacher.

Orwellian.

Come on, is this not spoofable?

They need more than that to keep their brains running at max efficiency. After that, they should have their thyroid and parathyroid levels checked. Either of those diseases alone would make life miserable. Fortunately, a thyroid condition can be treated with medication, albeit taking it for the rest of your life. Parathyroid disease however, can only be cured by having the diseased gland removed through surgery. The parathyroids are the only quadruple-redundant gland in the body, because they take calcium out of the bones and send it to the brain when it needs it.

How do I know this stuff? Because I have both diseases. I’m 26 and my conditions make me feel like I’m 80. I mostly have the same complaints that my 90 year old grandfather does, those being tired, brain fog, joints and bones hurting, plus trouble with urinating. Nobody should have to go through this. Anybody here, especially those with children, have your doctor test the TSH, PTH, and calcium levels. Doing so and having the problem corrected could literally add years to your life. As it is now, I feel the pressure of flexing on my bones themselves also, rather than only on whatever muscles I’m using.

But yeah, kids definitely need to eat more than that. I would just guess the problem to be keeping kids away from foods that they’re allergic to, and after that eating good food. We really don’t need more of this nanny-state BS.

Where are the parents of these kids? Prices have gone up and the amount of food has gone down, so they are getting ripped off.

If corporations and unions can get waivers so they don’t have to join ObamaCare, surely these school districts should be given waivers to get out of Evita Obama’s Food Reduction Plan.

I thought school lunches existed because of America's starving children.

Shouldn't government take the opportunity to stuff children with calories to save their lives?

Problem solved. They will ban bringing your own lunch. they have already done it in some schools.

Close the campus so kids can’t leave during lunch and it’s eat the shyt sandwich or starve.

"I want to solve this problem. But limiting calories in school lunch is not going to help the overweight kid.

Well, we all know what will come next then.

My, my, my. The rebellious spirit in kids these days. Something needs to be done about it. Maybe Moochelle could make that her next pet project if her Marxist husband should steal another Term in the November election.

My grandson is almost 16...they’re allowed to go out for lunch. He eats a big breakfast, says he eats a big lunch at a restaurant (not fast food), and I’ve watched what he eats at dinner....lots. He has soccer practice everyday and is on the varsity team, so they play a long and exhausting game. I think he’s too thin.

Calories should not be restricted, especially for the athletes. In the spring, I always tell him he looks so much better. I wasn’t sure what it was before, but just last week I figured it out....he’s burning the calories during soccer season.
