Clint Eastwood finally admitted what everyone already knew ... the GOP made a HUGE MISTAKE by hiring him to speak at the Republican National Convention -- calling Mitt Romney's people "dumb" to ask him in the first place.
Clint opened up in a recent interview with Extra's Jerry Penacoli, claiming, "If somebodys dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, theyre gonna have to take what they get.
It's a pretty crazy statement ... considering Clint had previously rebuffed critics of his infamous "Invisible Obama" speech by refusing to admit the entire thing was a train wreck.
Clint insisted he was just expressing his feelings -- but now, it's pretty clear he's starting to realize the truth ... it just wasn't a good idea.
When asked if he'd do it all over again -- the 82-year-old replied, "I never look backward. Its done and its done. I probably would. I wouldnt be afraid of it."

You mean like the question was , “What do you say to republicans who are complaining that your speech took the focus off of what they thought was important?”
His answer would make perfectly good sense.
If Obama had made that statement, the interviewer would have said “when you say dumb, you don’t really mean that they were stupid, right”?
Because the media always asks the follow-up questions to save Obama from whatever he says. And if they don’t, they pretend they did anyway.
So we are all “liars” if we insist that Obama actually said “you didn’t build that”, since they KNOW that Obama didn’t MEAN to say it.
“...refuse to admit the entire thing was a train wreck....”
It wasn’t. Just like attacking Obama on the terrorist apology, it was perfect. The media want to make people think it was bad when it wasn’t
Notice they snuck the word “hired” into the text. As if he was just an actor doing a job for wages. Hellovan insult.
Sarcasm goes over the heads of people with low IQs.
All I hear from the suck ass media is blah blah blah when they open their mouths. They are just as worthless as the scumbags they are working for.
No, I meant “classy” as in a sarcastic description of your crass statement.
No. That’s right. Twinkie shouldn’t have said that bad thing about Obama. I suppose he doesn’t have a butt crack; that would make him just like all the rest of us peons.
Classy? On this forum Classy includes pinging others when you call them out by name.
Get it (bull) TWINKIE?
Red, I meant to ping you on post #49.
I did not know that.
I just read a good interview with Clint in “Esquire” (get it now as U.S. News went out of print - still have 4 years paid up - dang high-school fund raisers!).
Anywhoo - I don’t think it was sarcasm. Clint is his own man, and he will NOT follow someone else’s script.
“If somebodys dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, theyre gonna have to take what they get.
He said the same thing about the “halftime in America” thing he did. He did it the way he wanted it to go.
And with the way they script out ALL of politics - the GOPe WAS dumb to invite him - Thank God!
In the interview they made a big point of him doing most of the movie scenes in just one take. (Both his shots and the actors he hires and directs). His speech was no different - one take, from the heart.
I wasn't thinking of it is as the GOPe inviting him, but I guess that's a fact.
Thank you.
Problem is I am an old school marm who remembers when respectful language was used in mixed company. I maintain that we can discuss political situations — and even be hilariously funny — without dropping into the gutter.
I frequently call posters out when crude talk is introduced to a thread, although I have enough sense to ‘leave the room’ when a bunch of guys get on one of their ‘guilty/not guilty’ jags.
