Updated 11:29 p.m. Mitt Romney's campaign this week has pounced on a 14-year-old clip of Obama speaking about "redistribution" in October 1998 at a conference in Chicago, in which the future president seems to extol the virtues of redistributing wealth. Yet NBC News has obtained the entirety of the relevant remarks, which includes additional comments by Obama that weren't included in the video circulated by Republicans. That omission features additional words of praise for "competition" and the "marketplace" by the then-state senator.

Have they found the missing portion of the Romney video yet?
Only if Andrea Mitchell can “authenticate” it.
She should know.
Somehow “redistribution” doesn’t really go with “competition” and “marketplace”.
WOW NBC working their little buns off trying to help their dear leader. Need anymore proof these media dimwits are ALL in the tank for Obama..looking around for video that helps their butt boy. It wont work..already heard Obama on tape saying he’s for redistribution of wealth. I dont know why libs are so scared of this tape, they are all for Communism just like their dear leader. Lawrence O Donnell said on MSNBC that he is a “Proud Socialist” so come on NBC “News” admit your all socialists to your 10 viewers
I swear the news reads like satire. After stating his belief in govt pooling resources and redistribution, Obama said something nice about the marketplace so all is well.
Ok so I say I believe in Marxism but the free market also has it’s good points, now does that make me not a communist?
The fact is Obama was railing about a “propaganda campaign against government” and he was proposing ways government could pool resources and redistribute. That is not undone if he then patted the free enterprise system on the back.
Neither do "government systems" that "pool resources".
Sure it does. The special interest groups compete in a perverse marketplace for their share of the government's redistributive largesse. Our noble politicians then "invest" our confiscated tax dollars where they'll get the biggest return, particularly during campaign contribution season.
Here is my 2 cents: Republicans and Democrats have been guilty of buying votes by promising FREE STUFF to potential voters according to the dictate of Karl Marx: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
This has led to a Polarized America. This polarization has increased as the number of those with ability has decreased and the number of those with needs has increased.
I call it the Federal Welfare Entitlement Plantation, with its Capitol located on the banks of the DeNile River, locally called the Potomac River.
Mailing address is 1600 Plantation Avenue, District of Corruption, Zip Code: Debt4U.
BTW, guess what happens when the 47 % becomes 51 % who pay no Personal Federal Income Taxes? (Your first two guesses dont count).
Good God! I just read the article. Obama is talking about “competition”and something that will “work in the marketplace” ONLY IN THE CONTEXT OF GOVERNMENT REDISTRIBUTION.
He is NOT talking about free markets or free enterprise, except as something government can compete with.
It’s like saying I’m a nice guy because I mentioned my mom, but the context is “here’s how to kill my mom”.
Read the article, NBC is lying, Obama does not “praise” the marketplace or competition. He is talking about taking wealth in a big pool, then redistributing via government in a way that can compete with and operate in the marketplace.
The rest of the clip does not help Obama, perhaps makes it worse.
Exactly!
Like Government Motors competing with Ford, or Solyndra competing with Standard Oil?
They should go to check the video of Obama/Joe the Plumber
My free advice for the Romney campaign.
Ask:
“In his autobiography, Mr. Obama admitted following Marxism in college. What he didn’t reveal was when he stopped. When was that?”
"Read the article, NBC is lying, Obama does not praise the marketplace or competition. He is talking about taking wealth in a big pool, then redistributing via government in a way that can compete with and operate in the marketplace."
Good point.
Well of course Obama likes the markets.
What else is their to loot?
