What??? Freedom of choice at one university in the USA???

No one is pointing a gun at anyone making them pray. You can think about elephants during the prayer or file your nails. But those wishing to join in the prayer, may choose to do so. That is America. If that is too, too, stressful for the pathetic atheist, what are they doing at a football game anyway?

Was listening to a Nashville radio sports program and a

caller asked if anyone charged onto the field after the

game...after they quit laughing said they were storming

the exits long before the game was over.

We are proud of the Vols,at least over this decision.

At least we have the Titans to cheer for./Sarc

The Freedom From Religion Fondation never ot that the Onstitution was not freedom FROM religion but the CHOICE to CHOOSE whatever religion you wanted to practce. They never ot that the reason that was put into the Constitution was due to the fact that in England the church was state sponsored, that you were fined if you didn’t attend, and that it was politically controlled to a large degree.

GO VOLS!

I’d like to also point out that the University of Tennessee has an excellent track record on behalf of free speech on campus. The liberals have denigrated the second amendment for years, and now they hold the first amendment in the same regard (if the speech in question isn’t liberal mush). That’s not acceptable at UT; I pray it stays that way.

Hell yeah!

Let the commies bring people with guns to stop the prayers. That will make some good PR.

It might also wake up the sleepwalking Christians out there.

I have an atheist friend who meets up with fellow atheists. He likes this kind of atheist activism. Guess what, he’s a big Obama supporter and believes in jacking up the gasoline price to $7/gallon (via taxes) to promote electric cars and force people to sell their SUVs

Forgive me if this post constitutes hijacking of your thread...

Your post brought to mind the scene from Sound of Music...at the concert when Capt Von Tropp starts singing Edelweiss (which I think is the Austrian National Anthem?)...his throat catches and Maria (Julie Andrews) picks up the song, along with the children. Then, the audience starts singing it.

The scene is interesting for the expressions of the Nazi’s sitting in the audience who can’t stomach this show of patriotism.

I’m actually getting to my point and hope someone can help me...

When Obummer was elected, that scene was the 1st thing I thot of. I searched and found a clip of that scene and sent it around to my friends.

I have also sent that clip to lefties, just to annoy them.

When I saw your thread and remembered that scene, I wanted to see it (and hear this beautiful song) again, but for the life of me I cannot now find it.

Every other song from Sound of Music can be found with the “full movie scene,” except for this one.

Call me paranoid, but I think that is very very strange.

If anyone can find that clip, I would appreciate it so much and may God save America and may God bless the Univ of TN.

where longtime gridiron traditions are cherished

I have no idea of the validity of this Email I received but I strongly endorse the sentiment.

School principal Jody McLeod read this statement over the PA system at the football game at Roane County High School, Kingston, Tennessee.

"It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country."

Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it "an alternate life style," and, if someone is offended, that's OK.

I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, "safe sex." If someone is offended, that's OK.

I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a "viable" means of birth control." If someone is offended, no problem...

I can designate a school day as "Earth Day" and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess, "Mother Earth", and call it "ecology.”

I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as "simple minded" and "ignorant" and call it "enlightenment..”

However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated.

This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical. Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.

Nevertheless, as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical. I suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.

For this reason, I shall "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's," and refrain from praying at this time.

"However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM, in the name of JESUS, to bless this event, please feel free to do so.

As far as I know, that's not against the law--yet."

One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.

They prayed in the stands. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer's Box!

The only place they didn't pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America- the Seat of "Justice" in the "one nation, under GOD."

Somehow, Kingston, Tennessee, remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion

Praise GOD that HIS remnant remains!

JESUS said, "If you are ashamed of ME before men, then I will be ashamed of you before MY FATHER.”

At the start of every game

Minister Joe Wright was asked to open a new session of the Kansas Senate.

Everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.

We know your word says "Woe to those who call evil good", but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We confess that.

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of your word and call it Pluralism.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. .
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and call it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen.".

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we are "one Nation under God."

Thank you kindly, glider! Yes, that clip showed some frames from the movie. I’ve given up trying to find the actual clip from the movie — it was once available believe me. It creeps me out (to turn a phrase) that it’s now gone from youtube. Thanks again and may God bless.
