Does anyone have the breakdown of the total? How many are on Social Security? Now many are government employees? How many are military? How many are on food stamps? How many are on Social Security disability? How many are on welfare?

They run the horror show here all the time.

Social Security should not be included in “government benefits” I receive my own benefit, the govn. just cuts the check. I paid in to Social Security and my husband paid in to Social Security. He died before he received any. When I reached the age I could collect, I had to choose between mine and his and could not have both.

That isn't fair, two paid in but only one gets paid out. I chose my husband's, so I lost the money I paid in. I don't want to hear anyone complaining to me about people collecting their social security money they paid in.

ya know, cloward-piven can and should work both ways...

seriously, when the avg citizen that busts his a$$ for a paycheck, makes a decent living and yet still qualifies for a gimme, why should he not take it, when its going to be given to a welfare queen or illegal anyway ???

this citizen IS nickeled and dimed to death with taxes and fees and regs at every level of gubmint, in every product and service he uses and gets no relief thru the ballot box...just an every prohibitive state, and yet more taxes fees and permission slips to live his life...

we should take every penny we qualify to get, and call it a BLOAT fund...

it was foolish for mittens to speak as though the 47% are insignifigant, and arent 'his' people...when the reality is that even those who are paying the lions share of fed income tax are getting screwed by the same pols that wont cut gubmint with a friggin meataxe...

and these fools are lapping up the R&R gravy of blaming the people that are simply taking whats offered...

welfare queens are a problem...the welfare industrial complex is THE problem...

I don;t see the point of getting into a general discussion NOW on the moral pros and cons of supporting a certain form of welfare just because it was promised for holding a job for some period of time. We can save that one for later,

To me the key point is that R+R are playing both sides and getting caught. Praising then insulting this group of ‘moochers’ to appease two groups at the same time. This is what happens when you believe in nothing. Alternatively Clinton could easily get away with it.

Yes, if you look at that “clock” carefully, you will notice some very interesting things:

*) Remember when they used to tell us that by the time we will draw Social Security there would be only two people working for every person getting a check => US Retirees and SSI is at about 68mil, about half of the US Workforce at 142mil.

*) The Small Business Assets clock is now running backwards!!!

*) Actual Unemployed is almost 2X the Official Unemployed

*) Citizens, with average per capita assets of about $300-thousand, have a $51-thousand National Debt share, and future Liabilities of over $500-thousand -— bringing to mind our Grandparents admonition of getting blood out of a turnip!!!

I expect, sooner than later, that we’re going to implement Jerry Pournelle’s “Welfare Island” concept.

It was background to some fiction, but basically America gets divided into two classes: Citizens and Taxpayers. You don’t pay taxes you live in “Welfare Islands”: huge buildings where you live, are fed, and kept entertained with TV, booze, and drugs. If you work hard at it, you CAN get out of them. . .but most don’t bother.

Twenty years ago, it was purely fictional. How long until something like it actually emerges ???

Romney can't say he himself hasn't been accused of not paying his way ~ his initial response was to just shut up about it.

I suppose that's considered heroic as long as you don't then turn around and call other people out on the situation.

The Mittbots just gotta' be besides themselves with confusion and grief over this.

What I need to know is how many Mittbots are also trailer trash and tax evaders? Anyone have an ideas. Then, anyone have any idea how they can possibly vote against their economic interests?

Marcella, I agree with you that SocSec should not be included in Govt Bennies. It was designed as an insurance program to guarantee retirement benefits for citizens. The only problem with the insurance was that politicians were the overseers! I tried to opt out in the 70's and was told no I couldn't. It is a govt bene of sorts, but a benefit that was purchased by the citizen.

More troubling is that there are the same pecentage of citizens on food stamps as are on Soc Sec......

The parents and children DID NOT become freeloaders by moving Grandpa and Grandma in!

BTW, those used to be Conservative values ~ to take care of your own people first. Now we have a crowd, apparently being led by Romney and Hannity, who are condemning the practice.

They didn’t become freeloaders by moving in .... just when it became permanent with a mental attitude of this is how I should be supported.

A conservative value is to lend a helping hand or a hand up which allow them to move out and up. Hand outs almost always lead to dependency and essentially financial and moral slavery.

It seems to me the attitude toward seniors is seniors are a drain on the younger people and the seniors need to die off really quick, then the rest of the people would be in better shape. However, the massive number of seniors is just beginning to happen. As people become seniors their attitude changes about older people. If a person manages to stay alive long enough, guess what, the person becomes a senior.

I'm not on food stamps, my house is paid for, my late model car is paid for, I pay something like $250 a month for Medicare supplement insurance and seldom go to the doctor to “drain” Medicare money. I also have enough preps to last a year so I won't be using government resources to keep me alive. I basically want the govn. and others who resent seniors sucking up so called govn. benefits, to leave me the hell alone.
