By Bethany Whitfield / Published: Sep 20, 2012

The new Chinese stealth fighter, believed to be the J-21.

Photos of what appears to be a new Chinese stealth fighter recently surfaced on the Internet, triggering a flood of speculation regarding the jet’s potential capabilities and what implications it holds for the evolution of Chinese military air power.

The single-seat, twin-engine fighter has been designated as the J-21 or the J-31, and is the product of Shenyang Aircraft Corp.

The shape seems identical but the jet exhausts do not appear to be cowled or possible to vector for manoeuvrability. But it does look as much a knock off as the Gucci bags and Rolex watches you can buy in Shanghai street markets.

No vectored thrust on those big engines, gear doors are not angled to deflect radar, horizontal stabilizers not cut to deflect either. Most likely designed to fly in low and fast and then turn and burn with the engines. Those big engines would make REALLY big targets, considering that most modern heat seekers go after the heat created by friction on the leading edges of the aircraft.

I am sure there are other disadvantages that the aircraft would exhibit against the 22, might be a tougher match for 15’s and 16’s that Japan has in the inventory.

I’m just sayin’ . . .

One of the most highly guarded secrets of the craft is that it is powered by renewable, green energy. Specifically, it runs by burning bales of marijuana, as can be seen looking into the exhaust pipes.

How does it even fly with two sleeping bags stuffed in the exhaust ports?

I wonder how this one related to the J-20? I’d think it might be the “low” end of a high-low mix ( like the F-16 is to the F-15 and the F-35 is to the F-22) but it looks pretty similar to the F-22.

Maybe the ChiComs are going for two “mid” optimized designs with the J-20 being an interceptor/interdiction platform (like the F-111 was supposed to be) and this J-21 being optimized for ACM.

We need to bring back American manufacturing. Now.

Not going to happen until you change the environment for and the perception of business in this country. Take a look at Chile. They went from a repressive regime under Allende to the fastest growing economy in the world, primarily because they have: 1) the lowest corporate tax rate in the world, 2) the lowest personal tax rates in the world, and 3) the gov't spends the lowest proportion of GNP in the world (less than 6% compared to almost 25% in the US). The solutions are well known. The problem is that those a$$holes in Washington won't give up the power that comes with giving away your money.

Obama cancelled the F-22 project. No more F-22s will be built.

The Dangers of America in Retreat
Submitted by may on September 15, 2012 - 1:01am

“Obama cancelled our F-22 production so the United States and our allies would not have a vastly superior air warfare capability over Russia and China. The limited number of F-22s we have remain the tip of the spear of any new major military attack the United States must undertake. The F-22 flies two miles higher and 400 miles per hour faster than our F-35. The F-22 is designed to clear the aircraft and ground-to-air defenses of our enemies.”

Well, it’s an attractive aircraft.

There are many mainland chinese nationals in our university grad schools, industrial research labs and probably our national labs. They know what we know. The US pays for the research and the chinese get the info for nothing.

I saw a photo of this the other day. Meanwhile, Bathhose barry wants to slash our defense capabilities so that we can have more money for welfare.

Don't get carried away. The Il-38 "May" was supposed to be Russia's copy of the P-3 Orion. Instead, the Il-38 is a piece of crap.
