LIFEBOAT

One of the great World War II films was LIFEBOAT, about the ordeal faced by survivors of a passenger ship that was sunk by a Nazi U-Boat in the middle of the Atlantic. The film details their struggle for survival in a small lifeboat, fighting the elements, thirst and then fighting against each other. Each person has their own ideas about how to navigate the little boat: they argue about who should be in charge; and they find little things to fight over even when they run out of things to fight over. Eventually they come to understand that their only hope is in putting aside their differences and working toward the common goal of survival. They learn that they cannot possibly get the boat to safety unless they all adopt that unifying goal.

In a sense the entire world is a LIFEBOAT, and we are all like the survivors in that film. We cannot solve the great problems which confront humanity--hunger, disease and war--unless we unite in a common effort to find meaningful remedies to these plagues. It is also true in every other sphere of life, in the family and in the workplace. When people unite to achieve common goals, and are willing to give and take, and think of each other's needs...then there is no limit to the good things they can accomplish together. As Frank Purdue once said: "There's no limit to the quality you can build into a chicken".

Chaplain Mitch Schranz

Good evening, Mac, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to the MacNessa family.

Clementine’s kitty is too, too cute!

Hope you’ve had a good day. *HUGS*

We’ve had more wind storm and the pine tree in our front yard was threatening to come down on the neighbor’s driveway and maybe garage (we told him to use our driveway for his cars). The Korean neighbor, who uses our snowblower to take care of ours and several more driveways and his properties, spent several hours with his son topping the tree and even cutting down the last 15’ of trunk...WHAT A HUGE RELIEF!

It is not possible to get tree service folks right now because of so many trees are down all over the city. And just now it has started to gust even harder!

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there ... Happy Autumn, one and all! (Of course, it’s 99 degrees here today and tomorrow ... but at least the calendar says it’s Autumn, right?)

The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in the late 1940s, contain the oldest known copies of the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament). For decades, the scrolls have been carefully guarded and their use often restricted to a small group of scholars. In an effort to preserve the ancient fragments while broadening access to them, the Israel Antiquities Authority, in partnership with Google, is making high-resolution images of the 2,000-year-old scrolls available to everyone online.

That’s good news for scholars and curious students alike. It’s also a reminder of the great treasure we currently possess in the Bible itself. Throughout Psalm 119, the writer celebrates the eternal nature and life-changing wisdom of God’s Word. At the heart of today’s passage, the writer declares, “I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life” (v.93).

Many of us have had a Bible almost all our lives, yet how much time do we spend in reading and studying it? How deeply do we think about the meaning of familiar passages?

Why not make Bible reading a priority each day? Ask God to guide, teach, and strengthen you through His written Word. This amazing resource is accessible to all and available now.

Thank You, Lord, for the Bible, Your Word to us.
Give us wisdom as we read and study it.
Make us sensitive to Your voice
and give us hearts to obey. Amen.
God speaks through His Word—take time to listen.

Read: Psalm 119:89-96

I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life. —Psalm 119:93

Wow! Is that common in your part of the World? I hope there's no serious damage and certainly that there is no bodily injury from this.

It's amazing how some rant on and on about how we're "despoiling" the environment, but when the environment bares its natural fangs, they are silent.

Not sure which pic you've seen of the kitties - they are all cute - unfortunately, I don't have a lot of good pics of them.

WE THE PEOPLE
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. "

Our Founding Fathers secured this essential freedom against overwhelming odds through great adversity, securing it first with the blood of our Patriots shed in the War of the Revolution, then through the course of intense and extended debate, leading finally to the adoption of the Bill of Rights.

It is under attack now, not only by the media, not only by academia, but by the Executive Branch of the United States Government itself. The President and Department of Justice have abdicated their sworn duty to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. They have instead, with full knowledge of the enormity of their acts, systematically betrayed the American People in repeated transgressions and usurpations, thereby assuming the role of principal domestic enemy in what will be the defining Constitutional struggle of our times.

We are called at this crucial moment to bear Witness to the Truth of God, to uphold and to defend this vital, First Freedom and the Freedoms that derive from it. Without Freedom of Conscience, what substantive Freedom could we continue to enjoy?

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...they say rain is on the way, but the wind has been here most of the day. The neighbor had to take down the pine tree in our front yard that was leaning more and more over his driveway (full of cars) and garage. Thank you, God, for such a good neighbor.

Did you and Linda walk in the rain? Does Linda have a raincoat?
