Sep 22, 2012 Paul Ryan Talks Space Exploration, Accuses Obama of ‘Dismantling’ the Program
ORLANDO, Fla. — It’s a topic Paul Ryan hasn’t discussed before on the campaign trail, but at an event today Paul Ryan unleashed on President Obama on the issue of space exploration, saying he has “presided over a dismantling of the space program over the last four years.”
“We are near the space coast, I think it’s important that we have a space program that has a clear space mission, a space program that we know where we are heading in the future, and a space program that is the unequivocal leader on the planet in space travel and space research,” Ryan said at an event at the University of Central Florida, about an hour away from the Kennedy Space Center.
“We don’t have that right now,” he said. “Look at what we have gotten out of this. The space program strengthens the entrepreneurial spirit and competitiveness. They launch new industries and new technologies. President Obama campaigned quite a bit around Florida, around the space coast, in 2008 — made lots of promises. This is another one of those broken promises.”
Ryan continued, saying the president has put the “space program on a path where we are conceding our global position as the unequivocal leader in space.”
“Today, if we want to send an astronaut to the space station, we have to pay the Russians to take him there,” Ryan said to boos from the crowd.
“China may someday be looking down on us from the Moon. That’s unacceptable. Mitt Romney and I believe that America must lead in space. Mitt Romney and I believe we need a mission for NASA, a mission for a space program, and we also believe that this is.......

Good cartoon. There’s a lot I don’t like about JFK (his personal morals, and his accession as a left wing demigod, for starters), but he was probably the last D in the Oval Office who seemed to actually love America, risked his life for Her, and understood that we have a mission to be better than the rest.
“Not because they are easy, but because they are hard”. I wouldn’t put many “D” quotes in my book of quotes that define my America, but that one would make the cut.

I suspect he was the last Dem occupant of the office who was willing to Do The Job because it needed doing, and not because it was a route to personal enrichment, accumulation of power, influence peddling, or anything else. And acted accordingly.
He may not have been the best US President, but I don’t think even his worst detractors could fault the fact that as President he did the job placed before him to the best of his ability, despite the personal cost. And with no thought given to his ‘legacy.’

Yes, those 2 groups you mentioned, but also people moved from the northeast to Florida and brought their devilish liberal views with them. His life and presidency were white washed. He was a cheating bum. He cheated his way into office, and was incompetent while he was there. Keep in mind that everything Johnson did, was effectively, Kennedy’s fault.

Leave it to ABC to end the "news" article with Obama propaganda. However, even I know how it will be accomplished. NASA needs a top to bottom review. It's new mission will be AERONAUTIC AND SPACE EXPLORATION. After all, that's its name.
No more global warming, no more Muslim outreach, no more flying dead space shuttles around for campaign propaganda. NASA has more than enough budget for its real mission, as long as it stops doing the things that are not its real mission.

You really have hit the current problem we have.
We are so far away from a war that we could have lost america in, we have become soft. We raise kids who have no idea how precious freedom is, they go to college and learn how to "play politics", it's a game for them.
They pick a side and they could give a fig if it hurts the country all they want is the win, the power.
Sadly, it will take another war to instill patriotism and the true value of freedom in the population.

It reminds me of that scene in T2 where we see two children intently watching a TV set and as the camera pans around, we see the guts of the set are gone and there is a fire burning inside. Or a post-apocalypse movie where you see the back end of a pickup truck but then see it is pulled by a team of horses. Or a space shuttle being trucked on the ground through neighborhoods to a museum.

OCTOBER 7 ANNOUNCED AS TARGET LAUNCH DATE FOR SPACE STATION MISSION
NASA and SpaceX have announced October 7, 2012 as the target launch date for SpaceX’s first resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft is scheduled for 8:34 p.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral, Florida. October 8 is the backup date.
The launch represents the first of 12 SpaceX flights to the ISS under NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) contract, and follows a successful demonstration mission in May when SpaceX became the first private company ever to attach to the ISS and return safely to Earth.
The SpaceX CRS-1 mission also represents restoration of American capability to deliver and return cargo to the ISS—a feat not achievable since the retirement of the space shuttle. SpaceX is also contracted to develop Dragon to send crew to the space station. SpaceX’s first manned flight is expected to take place in 2015.
On this mission, Dragon will be filled with supplies, which include materials to support 166 experiments in plant cell biology, human biotechnology, and materials technology. One experiment will examine the effects of microgravity on the opportunistic yeast Candida albicans, which is present on all humans. Another will evaluate how microgravity affects the growth of cell walls in a plant called Arabidopsis.
Expedition 33 Commander Sunita Williams of NASA and Aki Hoshide of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency will use a robotic arm to grapple Dragon following its rendezvous with the station, expected on October 10. They will attach Dragon to the Earth-facing port of the station’s Harmony module for a few weeks while crew members unload cargo and load experiment samples for return to Earth.
Dragon is scheduled to return in late October for a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California. Dragon will fly back carrying scientific materials and space station hardware.

This reminds me of the liberal jokes about the movie “Atlas Shrugs”. That it was all about fast trains. Yet that is one of the key platforms of Obama’s administration in building infrastructure.
Yet trains only work to connect densely populated areas spread far apart. It’s only practical and economical to build that here if you implement Agenda 21 and depopulate all the areas in between.
