Blocking the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from conducting aerial surveillance of livestock farms to spot Clean Water Act violations would cost taxpayers $1 million a year, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
The agency charged with reviewing legislation for budgetary implications said last week the Farmers Privacy Act would restrict the EPA to on-site inspections at costs of up to $10,000 per location.
The bill authored by Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) blocks the EPA from using aerial surveillance unless adequate public notice is given and the property owner has given their consent.
Its getting to the point that Ill have to file for a Clean Water Act permit if I want to turn the hose on in my backyard, Capito said when she introduced her bill in June. The EPA will take any opportunity to make it harder for farmers, energy operators, or any business that deals with the EPA, to operate.

Oh, so the EPA is a for profit business now?
And as a taxpayer I am forced to be a stockholder in it.
Just stop the EPA. Imagine how much that will save us.
Just wait until politicians catch on and use the EPA for political gain! /s
Wow, they found some place they could save a whopping million!
Oh, you know. Overtime, paid vacation time, sick leave....it all adds up. /s
I don’t think it cost taxpayers that much for the several years my great grandfather spent as a surveyor in Michigan’s upper peninsula after WWI.
Total elimination of the EPA would save a lot more than that!!!!
Ten grand to drive out to a farm and look at cows crap near water... Amazing. Just think if you dropped by five or six farms on the way, you could blow a years pay for a working man in one afternoon.
Sounds like bullshirt Government to me.
Peanuts isn’t it? Nothing like this will ever do.
The whole agency should be cut.
All of it.
When I was working in the Corporate world of Logistics, I had to meet cost reduction targets every year.
If I didn’t meet those targets, they would have hired someone who could.
Where these idiots come up with their numbers is a mystery to me. No wonder we are in the hole for $16 Trillion and counting.
This ain’t about saving money it’s about expanding their claws.
President Romney better neuter the EPA, the most tyrannical Federale agency. Bone headed tyranny that hurts our economy but keep those bloated Fderale paychecks coming. It’s their paychecks vs private businesses and our economy. EPA denizens could give a flip about the economic destruction and money loss they cause, just so long as they keep getting their paychecks.
Uh.....how much is it going to cost to rent/lease/service airframes and hire pilots for that same time frame? No one is going to convince me that the EPA will have 1 semi-retired pilot flying an old Cessna 150 to take pictures. EPA, like all other government agencies, are FOS.
Eliminating the EPA would save and generate billions and trillions.
Just stop the EPA. Imagine how much that will save us.

i vote for that !!!
